A co-worker recommended this film since it’s now on Netflix. It’s a Ryan Reynolds and Sam Jackson action flick team up. It had lots of potential but missed the mark pretty big. It seemed like it was shooting for a Mr & Mrs Smith style of high action, high comedy, not taking itself too seriously style but it doesn’t come close to comparison. For one thing everything in the film just felt so forced and unnatural. Even Sam Jackson looked terribly out of place being a badass gunning people down. The pacing felt off the story was flat and boring and I actually turned it off about 30 minutes in. It really does feel like Hollywood doesn’t know how to make consistently good movies anymore. On the other hand my co-worker liked it so maybe it’s just me.
Nope you're spot-on accurate with your review. And imo, Ryan Reynolds was so dying to get the Deadpool role because I think deep-down he knows he generally can't carry movies on his own or even star in movies that are any good or funny. Like The Hitman's Bodyguard.
I like this movie. The first time I saw it was a 5/10, but more recently i saw it again and it was a 6... then AGAIN and it was a solid 7/7.5. Samuel L Jackson is hilarious throughout.
The more I think about it, this movie is going to be a classic ! Scene at 1:55... "You prepared for that assault, muthafucka ?!" - LOL!
That’s because he enjoys the work. In an interview he basically said he doesn’t choose projects on the probability of them being liked or respected he just enjoys acting.
