What are some fights that were considered as FOTY but you disagreed with? And what fight from that year would you have had it considered as FOTY instead?

Personally I thought Joe Frazier vs George Foreman 1 was way too one sided to be considered as Fight of the Year for 1973. I would have chosen Masao Ohba vs Chartchai Chionoi. Far more competitive and thrilling fight.

A lot of the stuff in the 60s and 70s was just “big heavyweight fight”. Foreman-Frazier 1 was a massacre.

    In 1977, they picked Young-Foreman. I would go with Saad-Johnson 1.

    1978: Spinks-Ali 1. Holmes-Norton and Curry-Brooks were better

    1994: Castro-Jackson 1. I thought Randall-Chavez 1 was better.

    1996; Holyfield-Tyson 1. I’d pick Barrera-McKinney. I would also have Gatti-Rodriguez, Liles-Littles 2, Kelley-Gainer 1 and Bowe-Golota 2 over Holyfield-Tyson 1

    2003: Gatti-Ward 3. I would have Toney-Jirov. I also would have Gomez-Arthur over Gatti-Ward 3.

Yeah, fight of the year was a mix of most exciting and most important fight a few decades ago. That's why some of these picks seems.so mind boggling
