I don't think our government (the power elite) care much for the people as a whole but rather weigh their own agendas first and are willing to sacrifice untold #'s of lives for it. I think they view public perception as more important than public lives. I especially think they don't care about the poor and would love to have a huge population numbers drop. I'm sorry, but when I picture Congress in their offices making proposals and what not, I don't see them doing it for the good of the public.
