In order, IMO: 1. Duran 2. Monzon 3. Chavez 4. Jofre 5. Napoles 6. Arguello 7. Sanchez 8. Ortiz 9. Benitez 10. Olivares/Gomez - can't decide which gets left out the top 10. Duran is the undisputed #1 here. The rest of the list could go a variety of ways.
Sly, be honest, it's only boring to YOU because your knowledge of the sport's history is too limited to make an educated list. It might not be a boring thread to any poster whose knowledge base goes beyond Floyd, Pacquiao, Hopkins, and Calzaghe. Go jerk off to Mayweather-Gatti.
No, it's because I think it's pointless as it's too large a subset to be interesting. What next: Top 10 African American fighters? Also Hispanic/Latino....what does that mean? Any people from Mexico down to Argentina....regardless of race? Thirdly, this is just another thinly veiled Duran thread. Lastly this has been done ad infinitum
1- Duran 2- Ortiz 3- Chavez 4- Napoles 5- Sanchez 6- Arguello 7- Monzon 8- Jofre 9- Benitez 10- Gavilan
1. The fact that it's a large subset makes it interesting to actually come up with a definitive list. 2. This article gives a pretty good breakdown, genius. A Quick Breakdown Of The Difference Between Hispanic, Latino And Spanish | HuffPost 3. No, this is not a Duran thread. Unlike you, Sly, I'm a fan of BOXING first and foremost... not individual fighters. I could talk BOXING all day and night, whereas with you... the sport begins and ends with Floyd. BESIDES, Duran isn't even my favorite Latin/Hispanic fighter of all time. Benitez is. 4. Floyd threads have been done ad infinitum... yet you never find an issue with that. If this thread were titled "List Floyd's top 10 all time performances" you'd be giddy as fuck to give an answer. But I MAINTAIN, your knowledge of the sport is extremely limited, and instead of taking the time to either expand your knowledge base or simply shut the fuck up, your go-to is to disparage any fighters you know little about, and accuse some of us old time era jocking.
Nonsense. I have extensive knowledge of the game and more importantly I UNDERSTAND the mechanics of the game. Don't hate on me because I'm not a guy that spends a ridiculous amount of time watching every single fight in the history of the sport. Knowledge is one thing, wisdom and intelligence is another. You have the knowledge but that's it. As for Floyd, you bring him up waaaaaay more than I do. Every thread I create...you somehow tie it back to Floyd. I'm tired talking about Mayweather, but you are obsessed with him.
It's not that Sly doesn't know boxing, but he'd rather just be a contrarian troll and say things to get a rise out of people. Especially a rise out of X when he constantly has an agenda to relate something to his man-love for the dyslexic domestic abuser. Duran is at #1, I don't know how I'd make the rest of the list, it would take me awhile to come up with one and I really haven't seen enough of guys like Ortiz, Galivan, Jofre, and Napoles.
01. Melchor Cob Castro 02. Jesus Chong 03. Ubaldo Sacco 04. Tony "The Tiger" Baltazar (mullet down to his ass and all) 05. Frankie Toledo 06. Chris Arreola 07. Juan Carlos "Ranchero" Ramirez 08. Jesse James Leija 09. Enrique Jupiter 10. Tie: Juan Martin Coggi/ Daniel Santos
I only troll X because he follows me around with the "mayweather agenda" bullshit. If I create a topic featuring ANY Mayweather opponent he'd claim I have a Mayweather agenda. Therefore I'm compelled to troll him in return...the cunt.
:) Man! How do you even remember these guys? Now that you mention them, I recall some of them. Toledo I remember from espn2. And cobb castro was an opponent for someone on hbo but can't remember. Ranchero ramirez was a early ppv opponent for morales. Santos has a early win over margarito iirc. Hilarious list
Thanks. I have a very good memory. I don't study boxing tapes like some of these guys but if I saw a fight once I can usually recall opponents and half ass remember how fights went. I think Ranchero may have owned a world title for a split second at featherweight. And he kept fighting and moved up to lightweight long after he was out of the spotlight. Jesus Chong and M.C. Castro both had a handful of fights on either ESPN or USA back in the day. Ubaldo Sacco was an Argentinian champ at 140. Split two fights with Maddog Hatcher. What I rememver most about Frankie Toledo is him giving MA Barrera a death stare while the ref gave instructions. The intimidation thing didn't work out and Barrera dismantled him in two rounds. Baltazar was decent but by the time they fed him to Carlos "Bolillo" Gonzalez, he was washed up and had a mullet down to his ass which Bollillo put him on and iced him in one round.
I would put Napoles #2 below Duran. I'd put Carlos Ortiz at #3, but then again he is also a Yank so I'm not sure he counts
It's pretty crazy to me that Oscar, Tito, Morales, Barrera and Juan Marquez are not on these lists. I became a fan in the early 90's so missed most of the fighters listed.
It's not crazy at all....xplosive would never place a post 1990 fighter on a list unless under duress
Remember Victor "Ragabon" Rabanales? He looked like they just woke him up from his cave and put boxing trunks and gloves on him and brought him to the arena. He looked like he was ready to eat someone. Truly savage.
