Lopez had an excellent chin, but guy did eat too many shots.

Lucky for his health he never fought Tito.

I think Trinidad would´ve TKOd him.
Purely for the fact he took so many massive shots....and against someone technically sound as Trinidad...precise-punching...he would have gone down, probably to body-shots,...

That is, if Trinidad could take the power that Lopez had....and thats a different ballgame altogether!!

It would've been a very good fight had it happened circa 96 when Lopez was at his peak.

But I can't help but think it woulda ended badly for Lopez.

...Holyfield. Took some big shots in big fights (Bowe) and just kept coming. I was always impressed with his ability to shake off a big shot and come back with one. Randall "Tex" Cobb...I remember him taking a beating vs. Larry Holmes and wondering "how the hell is he still on his feet?!"

Mosley had a hell of a chin. You just gotta throw out the Forrest fight.

Mosley had an excellent chin and to be fair I don't think he would have gone down in the second against Forrest without the preceding clash of heads. Saying that, much like Tua, I think he could be subdued into not throwing punches and giving up on trying to win, which should detract a bit from the rating his chin gets.

McCullough vs Hamed and Morlales where he took a load of shots off two of the biggest hitters at 126lb (I think he said that Morales hit harder than Hamed?).
Doesn´t look like he can take a hot at all but McCullough is one of those guys who can just ´take it´.

Doesn´t this alone equate to having a ´great chin´ though...that is, when you take away other factors such as tight defense, head movement, conditioning.....Lopez was just a freak of nature.

"Morales hits harder but Naz is physically stronger" were his exact words. McCullough definitely deserves to be on this list although I remember him getting badly hurt by Scott Harrison towards the end of his career.

It was not a clear KD. Vitali was never floored as a pro.

Hopkins has shown a strong chin.

    Hagler is an obvious.

    James Toney.

It was a legit KD. Vitaly legs were gone from the left landed by Sanders, and this is what cause the delayed kd. It wasn't the clearest KD, but still a rather obvious one. It's funny how Klitsko fans are so defensive when it comes to them. They can't acknowledge that Lewis was fat when he fought Vitaly, that Wlad quitted against Brewster, that Vitaly was kd by sanders, and that Vitaly avoided Rahman for some weird reasons.

Just watched that fight again for the first time in ages. Never really saw it as a knockdown myself but admittedly it could have been called as one if you wanted to get technical. I don't think it says anything good or bad about Vitali's chin though, he was definitely shaken and the straight left that wobbled him was a good shot. I don't believe he was all that hurt though, it's not like he was ready to go or anything.

I think it clearly disqualify him in a discussion among the 5 best chin ever. The guy only fought two punchers who were any good, and he was floored by one and badly hurt by the other. Doesn't mean he has a bad chin, far from it. But I think it proves it was not among the best ever.

you simply don't know much about boxing if you don't think it was a kd. Legs were gone from the punch, and that why he went to the ground. Should have been called a KD. And yes a delayed kd is an obvious kd, even though they are not as clear as a direct kd. Nothing contradictory in what I said.
