Assuming it really comes off. I have my doubts, because I don't trust Vergil. How does it play out? It's a risky fight for Tim. It he loses 2 straight, his career is in the shitter. But if he wins, his career is at a new high. I think Tszyu can win. There's something about the Tszyu style that's really effective against Mexicans. Tim is the more proven of the two and has been fighting better opposition. I've got Tszyu in a war.
I got Tim Tszyu via mid to late rounds stoppage. Vergil has a good style for Tim to really shine. I like Vergil Ortiz but I think his flaws will be really exploited here.
An interesting point was brought up to me yesterday regarding the likelihood of this fight happening. It isn't ortiz we should worry about. He'll blow out dulorme in an hour or two Tszyu coming off that terrible cut in the war with fundora makes little sense fighting so soon in August. When can he even start sparring. That's a 6 month type healing period for such an awful gash
Between the both of them, I'm doubtful it happens August 3. But I think his Excellency will make it happen sometime in 2024.
Tszyu knows he could miss the boat if he doesn't take this fight on this massive event card. He's 29 and can't wait around. Beating Ortiz impressively will rebuild his stock and put him in line for Crawford etc megafights. It is a risk though, and losing will practically end his run as a contender at 154 for good.
ridiculous. even if he had surgery the day after the fundora fight. thats less than a month ago. he cant possibly begin sparring anytime soon
