Battlestar Galactica (reboot) is the best scifi tv series since the original Star Trek, but with less technical jargon dialogue and more human drama. It spawned two prequels: Caprica, which wasn't so great and 'Battlestar Galactica: Blood & Chrome which debuted last month.

trailer for newbies to Battlestar Galactica showcasing only the basic premise without spoilers

Since a new season started up, I've got to recommend "Southland".

It's gotta be the best traditional cop series on TV right now.

I like it too. It's basically Dr. House doing detective work. I love that.

I believe House was based on Sherlock Holmes. House was great but it gets repetitive after awhile.

Cumberbatch and Freemans stock is on the rise, the network will struggle to get them back for a 4th series.

Definitely interesting but also definitely overrated. Good cinematography covers up a lot of bad writing and utter ridiculousness

Taken 2002 mini-series from Steven Spielberg. 7 year old Dakota Fanning steals the show with her performance in one of the best scifi-ufo productions you'll ever watch. It won an Emmy for Outstanding mini-series.

    Anyone seen Revolution?

    If not, don't. It's terrible.

Has anyone caught that Hannibal series yet? I'm thinking of getting up on that one. Anyone who hasn't seen The Wire might want to consider a show that was arguably one of the best.

I think I lasted about 2 episodes before I wanted to punch everybody who had anything to do with this show, in the throat.

It tried to pattern itself after "Lost", but where "Lost" made you want to believe the leaps of faith it made in the plot, "Revolution" just assumes everybody who watches the show must be as completely stupid as the characters actions in the show.

"Legit" has been a nice surprise on FX. I'm not a big fan of Jim Jeffries stand-up act, but his show is pretty solid. I definitely prefer it over "Wilfred". I've never really bought in to the concept of that show, even though I keep giving it a shot.

It's a great idea for a show but they skipped the most interesting aspect. i.e what happens in the immediate aftermath.

The acting is best described as hammy, the dialogue is appalling. I got as far as episode 3... hoping

I stuck with Lost until the bitter end. I think they lost the audience in the last series or two however the early stuff was excellent. Every series had at least 2/3 fascinating episodes.

Watch Breaking Bad (now on its final season) and you'll have a laugh with all those jokes on the internet.

Treme is an awesome show. 3 seasons down and a final season airing soon.

Yeah, Treme doesn't get a lot of love, in spite of it being a damn good show. It's not that people dislike it, it's just that they don't watch it or never heard of it. HBO didn't really do a good job of promoting it compared to their other shows.

I think it suffers because everybody wants it to be the New Orleans version of "The Wire", and it's not. It has some of the same story-telling elements as "The Wire", but the tone of the show is completely different.

I heard 'The Following' is good, but I'm yet to check it out.

I think what made the Wire so special were the characters more so than the story, although the story was very good in it's own right. Does Treme have memorable characters like the Wire? Maybe I should check it out.

I've never seen The Wire, but I'm pretty sure the guy who plays Antione Batiste in Treme was in The Wire too. Treme is very character driven, but there are a lot of them to keep up with.

Probably not so much as "The Wire" unless you consider the city of New Orleans a character. "Treme" is a much more meandering story then "The Wire". You also have to really dig the music from that area to, as it's very prevalent throughout almost all the story lines.

Just caught the first couple episodes of "Hannibal" tonight. Very good so far. The style is something I would expect to see on a network like AMC, rather then on NBC.

I have only seen a few episodes, and that's enough for me. I find every single character completely unlikable.
