I'll have to come clean and confess - that's the first time I've watched Price. I'm genuinely impressed. His defense looks awful, but I like everything else, he'll make for fun, eye pleasing fights if nothing else.

David Price's run continues after putting away Sam Sexton in 4 rounds :bears:

One guy bet £50,000 on Price to win inside 4 rounds...lucky cunt.

Price is good as long as his opponent does not move sideways. He was trashed in the Olympics by Cammarelle and he has shown nothing to suggest that it wouldn't happen again

I didn't see last nights fight but up to then I've thought Tyson Furry would beat Price. Just seemed a bit looser and more fluid. He has a significantly better win at this stage too with the win over (an albeit hideously out of shape and unmotivated) Chisora

Fury has talent but its shackled by Tinker bullshit, drinking, fucking, telling fibs, selling dags, that type of stuff. As I said before, and I am mighty proud of this expression, his prime is disappearing down the chute in a haze of nightclubs, club sodas, club oranges and club milks.

Yeah, I know. Dwyer is educated so he tends to repeat himself, safe in the knowledge that most lesser mortals are not likely to pick up on it. He reckoned against the superior IQ of yourself and myself, of course.

As for Price, I thought it was all set up for these big white punchers to get title shots they don't deserve, at least that was the prevailing wisdom circa the Age of Cooney, that they were instantly marketable, that we were crying out for these things?? Damn those Klitschkos to blazes, they have ruined it for David Price.

 @ Barry McGuigan raving on about Price, putting him ahead of Chisora and Haye. When Price has come through 12 rounds of Vitali Klitschko and won some rounds at that, then he can be placed in that class.

Price, however, is a legitimately heavy-handed bomber, a real rarity. That power will dig him out of a lot of holes. Ugot is probably right about the rest though. Still, a massive right hand counts for a lot in the division, always has.

Price is a rarity: a Liverpool fan who can fight.

Most Liverpool fans get beaten up. Smith, Holligan, Derry Matthews...

Jim Watt sounds like an thwarted mongo.

Re:price &the Italian at the Olympics, it looked more the 'southpawness' than the movement causing problems. The angles were never quite right whether the guy was moving or stationary.

It wasn't the only time it happened to Price though, as an amateur he was never impressive against guys who could move and/or attack quickly. Of course he was a young lad back then and tall guys mature slower than others so he may learn

Fury is IMO a poor fighter.

Clumsy and without the benefit of being taught the fundamentals correctly, this guy is an accident waiting to happen.

He had a truncated amateur career. That said, while I agree with the basic tenet of what you say, he's very loose and very big, goes to the body, and has a big right hand. His last fight, albeit versus a tomato can, he fought southpaw the whole fight. Its his lifestyle thats going to cost him, not his shoddy skills, per se.

He looks like one of those guys who sweats profusely walking around on a moderately warm day, or when taking a shit. I'd say venting his bowels brings him out in a gentle sheen.

I honestly think Fury is a good fighter (in the context of today's HW division), and I think he is better than Price. Saying that, the first McDermott fight is a big worry

McDermott is a criminally underrated fighter. "Oh look, a pudgy white heavy. Bum, naturally"

McDermott stood in with a still useful Danny Williams and beat him, in my book. He beat Fury the first time and utterly wrecked Larry Olumbamiwo in under a round

Fury is way more seasoned than Price and has passed bigger tests including the admittedly under-prepared Chisora but also the mini-crises of the McDermott rematch and the Paijkic/Firtha fights.

Price does have freakish power and leverage.

Yeah McDermott is, or at least was, pretty skilled and capable.

Tall guys mature slow and without good amateur career of course Fury will have huge flaws, but he is definitely better than he looks and better than people give him credit for. He is never going to look as elusive as a midget but he is going to be tough to beat in years to come

I don't see the receding hairline you speak of, but he does indeed look a bit like an oversized, angry, basted Turk.

Price's problem is that he has the chin of a four year old girl. I distinctly remember watching him crumple is a sparked-out heap against Camronelli [sp] in an ammy semi-final (maybe the 2008 olympics?) He has good offensive technique, though, and as you say, he'll make for fun fights.
