UFC 184 - ROUSEY vs. ZINGANO

How the FUCK did one blind, retarded judge have Racquel "Rocky Juarez" Pennington winning the fight? She didn't even win a round. Holm still got the better of her in round 3, it was an easier fight than I expected for Holm, given it was her UFC debut.

And why on earth does Dana like Pennington? She has some ability, but does fuck all, just plods around like Juarez, throwing the odd punch. She either has some sort of mental bloc, or lacks courage or something.

 

I thought it was funny, made me actually like Ronda a bit more :kidcool:

Zingano fucking sucks. What a pathetic performance, she looked like a rank amateur.

Obviously I'm surprised, but in a way not THAT surprised, as I expected Ronda to win in the 1st round, and "like I said before" my impression was that Zingano only beat Miesha through size/strength. She didn't look very good to me, looked very basic in that fight.

Agreed. Cyborg and Holm are the only 2 vaguely interesting fights out there, and she'd win both easily.

If I was Ronda, I'd probably be more interested in shooting a movie or something too.

BTW regarding Holm, she won pretty easily, but it shows how awful women's boxing is compared to men's. Her defense sucks, she was laughably hittable against a very basic fighter in Pennington, on the odd occasion when Pennington did actually throw.

However, her TD defense was quite good actually, and she was physically stronger than I expected.

That's kind of a generic answer. I know the UFC need as many girls as they can get, and ones who are willing to take fights.

I'm wondering why he has a soft spot for Pennington in particular, it was evident even on the TUF season.

She looked to have a better boxing stance than Holm. She is just too small and didn't pull the trigger. When she threw some leather she connected with better shots than Holm. Holm was good with her TDD, though. Boxing wise she looked like Amir Khan. Stupid high volume no power boxbot.

That was a really sweet arm bar, much higher level than I was expecting based on the Zingano complaints. This is a shit happens fight, very comparable to some of Tyson's wins.

The sport is such that a good wrestler can start fighting mma and be 8-0 in 2 years and a viable opponent for Rousey. To say she should retire is nonsense, imo.

History hasn't been kind to fighters who go the movie route, but I'm sure the money makes it worth the risk.

Female boxers have it tough, because A) They're fucking awful compared to male boxers, and B) The man's advantage in punching power and chin is too much to overcome.

But MMA is completely different, I think Ronda would do much better. Women MMA fighters are just better than their boxing counterparts, they are more suited to grappling etc.

Ronda would be fighting men who weigh the same as they women she's been fighting, I see no reason why she couldn't use her skills to just toss mini dudebro around like a ragdoll too, and submit him. Obviously he'd win the standup easily, but I think she could avoid it.

 

MWS, there is no fucking way a woman can hang with a world-class mma guy. Faber would destroy Ronda and I doubt Ronda would disagree.

I don't know how far down the food chain you'd have to go before she'd be competitive, but in most sports it's in the hundreds and in MMA it is probably deeper than most sports.

 

How do you know that though? Like I said I know good female boxers have been destroyed, but MMA is very different, and seems to be something women are naturally better at.

Not only that but Ronda is exceptionally fucking good. It was even impressive watching her easily throw men around in the TUF house.

i trained with a very high level BJJ lady..
my hands are very good and my kicks as well.. in a stand up, boxing/kickboxing i'm just way ahead... but in BJJ i'm limited.. this lady is an expert. We grappled and it became very clear, i was not out to prove anything or hurt anyone but me at 185 or so and her and i don't know what.. maybe 130 ? it's too big a difference.
