I don't give a toss about McGregor but at least he is not hanging around in the Olymps being robbed.

He's a limited guy whose schtick I find boring but he's making money and entertaining so :dunno:

    He wasn't dominant at featherweight?

I tought Nate won the second, but I agree that calling this a robbery is absurd. Was a close fight that could have gone either way.

I'm not sure we could call him a dominant featherweight. He looked impressive in the few fights against good fighters he had, but he didn't sticked around long enough. Agreed with the other that I don't think he will amount to much as a Lightweight.

Also, is it me who has became a bit too blase, or were the announcers really going overboard? Sure it was a good fight, but I don't think it was the classic they were saying it was.

His stamina is pretty shocking to be honest. Like total shit for a world class guy. He didn't even do much this tim a and still was gassed as hell. Does anybody remember how he looked in the third against Max Holloway?

It wasn't. Conor was barely scraping by and Nate couldn't do much with his gassed ass... Nate has pretty bad skin so it was bloody which seems to count for good here...

He was dominant at featherweight. He's way too small for welterweight. He probably won't be dominant at lightweight, but he could be. It will depend on whether or not his power is closer to his featherweight power p4p or welterweight power p4p. That's not always easy to predict, but most guys just don't carry power up with them.

McGregor, technique-wise: did his homework and ground-out the win. The ability to throw damaging low kicks is not a skill easily acquired. Shins are not nearly as conditions as it is in MMA relative to kickboxing, and especially Muay Thai. Kicks in general are also more risky when facing wrestlers, grapplers, Brasilian Jiu-Jitsu specialists. For these reasons, you don’t often see great low kickers in MMA. When facing Diaz Bros, guys probably start emphasizing low kicks when they’re matched against them, and although being heavy on the lead leg and having a inverted stance does make it harder to check and brace the kick, that is non-issue if the low kicker can’t do damage. If not enough damage is done via the low kick, then they will just keep pressuring forward and the energy is simply wasted by the kicker, which leads us to:
McGregor, stamina-wise: got into same bad habits as he did in fight #1 - massive left-hand shots that take a lot out of a guy, especially if the stamina and cardio is suspect from the get-go. This along with the sheer number of low-left-kicks showed you McGregor struggling from middle of Rd3

i didn't get to see the fights until today. i wanted Nate to win, but it really could have gone either way. it wasn't a robbery.

i expected Cowboy and Rumble to win and make it look easy. I thought Nate would win, but I have to respect Conor for what he did. He did a lot more damage overall.

    THIS....

It WASN'T a Hard Fight to Score, @ All...Nate CLEARLY Won Round 3, but You'd Have to Be GENEROUS to Give Him Any Other Round, Outright...No Conspiracy or Controversy Whatsoever...McGregor WON the Fight...

170lb Men ABSORB Shots Better than 145lb Men Do...Nonetheless, McGregor BOUNCED Diaz Off the Canvas 2-3 Times, Early Doors...

He's NOT a Puncher @ 170, but '45 and '55 Pounders WON'T Have Much Success TAKING Many of McGregor's Shots...He's a WORLD CLASS Striker, Undeniably...

I thought the first three rounds were pretty awesome, but the last two had way too much clinch fighting and dragged on a bit. they were both gassed.

Saw something that said they made $15 and $12 million respectively. They were guaranteed $3 and $2 million each.

First, I thought the UFC didn't release PPV numbers.

Second, how do they have the tallies from cable companies already?

Sounds like UFC PR to me.

2 mil doesnt include PPV bonuses or other bonuses the UFC gives. Diaz and The Irishman made a hell of a lot more money than that.

If it did a million buys at $60 that's around $30 mil after cable gets a cut. You think Diaz can get a third of the gross?

Diaz and Conor were the only two getting ppv points on the card. Diaz probably got 3 dollars per ppv sale, Conor would get 5.

When did the UFC start releasing their PPV numbers?

Secondly, accurate reporting on PPV numbers takes at least a month. The reports of how much they made (not guaranteed) was out yesterday morning.

    Sounds like BS to me.

Cowboy Cerrone near the end of the fight with Rick Story. Impressive combo that led to the finish.

I would love to see Cerrone / Diaz 2. I don't care if it's at welterweight or lightweight.

The PPV numbers have not been released yet. two 2 million Diaz got is basically just to show up and fight. The UFC doesnt release the numbers, but the numbers do get out.

clearly UFC is secretive because they are over paying their fighters and under reporting the income. why would they wanna publicize higher payouts? surely that would discourage fighters from aspiring to join their company :atu:

Very few fighters in the ufc have ppv points guaranteed into their contracts. If you don't have them, there is no doubt you can make more money fighting elsewhere. Bellator just offered cerrone even a deal of guaranteed 350k per fight. Cerrone currently makes 85k to show up and 85k to win in disclosed pay. However, I doubt cerrone takes the deal. He knows the real money is in that belt, which automatically allows him to renegotiate ppv points. It's public knowledge other originations paid their overall talent more than the ufc. But that is also the reason those companies are no longer in a business.
