    Cowboy's a GOOD Fighter, but he'll NEVER Be UFC Champion in REED's Opinion...He'd Be a Fool NOT to Jump on a GUARANTEE of $350k PER Fight, Especially Considering it'll Be Against EASIER Opposition...It's HIGHLY Doubtful Cowboy's EVER Made 350k After a Night's Work...

    Fighter's Have Gone from UFC to Other Organizations, BACK to UFC, So it's NOT Like Cowboy Would Be Permanently BURNING a Bridge or Anything...He Should JUMP On that Shit....

    Hey man who knows. Cowboy does get better. But one thing is for sure, Cowboy believes he can be champ. So im not sure he will jump.

    Rory is another one that just got offered a huge bellator contract and he will most likely take it, as the UFC has already removed him from the rankings.

    Cowboy's a LEGIT Contender...MORE than just a "Gatekeeper", but NOT Quite Good Enough to Ever Actually WIN the Title, in REED's Opinion...

    Not a Wise Business Decision @ All, On His Part...

    You guys are talking like it takes some standout epic level of skill and consistency to be "champ" in UFC. Win 2 or 3 fights in a row and you're in serious contention. Win 3 more and you're one of the biggest names in the sport.

    Cowboy has won 12 out of his last 13 fights. Still not champ, still not in contention to be champ and still doesnt have PPV points.

    The one he lost was the one he needed to win. He can highlight a few should-be no names and get right back in that "must win" position.

    Cowboy already fought the champ and just like the last couple guys, got destroyed in impressive fashion. I still want to see Dos Anjos versus Connor.

    I thought the reason Cerrone moved up was because he knew he'd never beat DA and now he's talking about going back down to fight Alvarez who he already beat by a wide margin? Why?

    with the UFC you just can't tell though, since both these guys already defeated the current champ of the division in which they lost the title shot. I wouldn't count out Cerrone especially but it seems there are a couple other fighters who will get a shot first.

    Actually I didn't. When Cerrone said he had unfinished business with him I figured something was up. Just looked it up and was shocked to see Alvarez beat DA. I'm downloading that card as we read.

    I´d say, in UFC there´s so many variables in ways to Win-Lose a fight:
    * KO (by punches, kicks, knees, elbows)
    * Referee-Stoppage
    * Points
    * Submission (by choke, arm/joint-locks)

    Plus the fact they use 4-6oz gloves which accounts for more knock-downs and knockouts.

    With boxing, you basically have your fists, 8oz or 10oz gloves and its either points or KO/stoppage.

    So, in the UFC, while Jon Jones was 22-1 at the time of ban and supposedly UFC P4P#1....he´d got there by fighting everyone in the 205lb division and beating them in the variations listed above.

    By contrast, in boxing, you have Gennady Golovkin - 36-0, hasnt fought anyone of real note or worth and is considered the ´Second Coming´ by boxing fans.

    Yeah, it's easier to come across with a semblance of authority if you don't talk about Jon Jones's 175lb dominance.

    A i said before, the myth about the imprevisibility of the UFC compared to boxing is just that, a myth. If there was as few weight classes, and just one major organisation (two if you count bellator), you would see a lot more upset too in boxing.

    I don't believe you are correct. I think it's much more likely that a lesser fighter beats a better fighter in mma. We'd probably need an analysis of odds, results, and odds/results to convince the other. Maybe someone has looked into 'proving' it one way or the other, already. I don't have time, but a Google search might have something pop up from sherdog or somewhere else.

    I doubt it. I don't think we would see as many dominant champ in boxing as we see in mma (GSP, Silva, Jones, Mighty mouse, Cruz, Aldo) if the talent was as concentrated as it is in MMA. In fact, when you think about it, lenghty title reings are far from the exception in MMA. But, as you said, it is pretty much an opinion without any facts to base this on.
