Ya too us it should be but UFC isn't sold on Lombard's drawing power. Keep in mind casual fans ONLY watch UFC no bellator no strikeforce or other crap. Hell they refer to the sport of MMA as UFC...yup sad. Which reminds me anyone wants to go outside and play some NBA?
Yeah,the Bader Machida fight is a very odd matchup. I think they are trying to put Machida back in a title shot. Browne/Rothwell is going to end in someone asleep.
No way are either of them more deserving than Machida and Bader. Stann pretty much sucks and Lombard is just unknown.
Stann is pretty good actually. He's not champion material but an easy top 10 guy. Top 5 on a good day.
Stann is an animal at 185. His only loss is to Chael Sonnen. No shame in that. Stann is one of the top 3 or 4 MW's in the UFC. Unfortunately those 3 or 4 ahead of him are good wrestlers or Anderson Silva. I'd pick Stann to KO Bisping if they were fighting tomorrow. Stann isn't elite but he also doesn't suck.
if lombard KOs stann, do you think white would give him an immediate crack at the title? i think he knocks out munoz too if they were to fight for the no. 1 spot.
If Lombard knocks out Stann he's not getting a shot. Not yet at least. If Sonnen beats Silva then we're looking at Sonnen/Silva 3 in Brazil. If Silva wins then he will probablly defend against Munoz/Lombard winner while Sonnen tackles Bisping again. Or Silva defends against Munoz later in the year (if he's not injured) and Lombard takes on Bisping.
Who has Stann fought at 185? Sakara and Leban? Are those guys even top 20? Certainly not Sakara. Stann lost to the only legit top 10 guys he faced in Sonnen.
Leben was probably in the top 10 when Stann starched him. Leben was on that nice run of wins over Silva, Simpson and Akiyama. And Jorge Santiago came over to the UFC as the reigning Sengoku champ when Stann drilled him. I don't think Stann is elite by any means. And I suspect he will always struggle against wrestlers. But he doesn't suck. That is my ONLY point.
