Negotiations are ongoing for Verno Phillips to challenge IBF jr. middleweight world champion Cory Spinks in Spinks’s next fight. The IBF said in a letter that Spinks’ next mandatory title defense is due by November 3, and No. 3 ranked Phillips is the leading available contender. The date and site of the fight is still to be determined. <!-- m -->http://www.fightbeat.com/news_details.php?NW=20551
If this aint PPV worthy i'm not sure what is. I predict the record Oscar and Floyd set gets obliterated.
I'm sure I'm in the minority, but I wouldn't mind seeing this fight. Though it could be a hit or miss affair - in fact, it could either an unexpected treat like Ouma-Phillips I or Spinks-Zab I, or a complete dud like Ouma-Phillips II.
I would watch it, wouldn't buy it on PPV but I'd watch it on Showtime or BAD, mainly to hope for Spinks to get KTFO.
yeah, i wasn't expecting it to headline a PPV or anything. i think it's a decent showtime fight, though, certainly no worse than what they've been showing lately (or even have scheduled for the rest of the year)
is green definite? I kept hearing "most likely" all weekend, though definite that Blades is out. Apparently Showtime doesn't appreciate being too often reffered to as Shawtime ::
You know if they put Tarver/Green and Spinks/Phillips on the same card it would be decent, but isn't that Tarver Green going to be in Austrailia?
no, tarver-green will part of a double header with forrest-piccirillo. i think it's going to be held at foxwoods or one of them connecticut casinos.
Tripleheader with Donaire/Maldonado. Another card with washed-up account managers. Tarver should have taken his beating from Dawson, because he´ll probably catch one here for less money. Sh*t he couldn´t KO Muriqi. I´d like to see Forrest against the two best jr. middleweights, Santos and Dzinziruk. :crafty:
