I have to admit, I thought Pazienza rode his story into some decent fights moreso than actual accomplishments above Junior Middle, and I didn't think much of him. Maybe that's unfair, but I look at some of Roy Jones's early middleweight fights, and even though Roy typically steamrolled them, Pazienza would have been 50/50 against guys like Bryant Brannon and Tony 'The Punching Postman' Thornton. Actually, I think he would have lost to those guys. I don't hate the guy, but I think he's borderline top 20 in his middleweight era, and he got a lot more notoriety than actual accomplishments. He was best known for breaking his neck, and second best known for losing a round by landing no punches against Roy Jones. Sure, he beat Dana Rosenblatt, but so what? He barely beat Luis Santana, the guy who kept diving to victories against Terry Norris.
Hard to believe that Floyd is now a couple of years older than Duran was when Duran fought Pazienza twice.
I never liked the guy or his comeback story but you would have paid top dollar to see him fight either of the Paul Brothers in a straight fight. He'd have been charged with more than domestic battery that night. There would have been nothing domesticated about it.
Thing is he came to London and fought Herol Graham in what was actually Graham's last stand. Graham pasted him and then gave Brewer a very good fight. But he was a live dog vs Graham and at one point Graham said he felt he was in trouble. But it was a clear loss for Pazienza. He did batter F out of Rosenblatt who Norris was fed to in his last fight..
pazienza let the world down when he failed to "whup the piss outta" rosensplatt in the rematch as he claimed, and instead got thoroughly outboxed by that boring fuck.
I kind of like Paz because my mother had a similar injury (not as bad) to him from a car accident. Someone who worked with my dad in the CA state commission told Paz this, so he signed gloves for her and mailed it to our house. Other than that, I’m indifferent about him. I read that Paz told Miles Teller to put a banana in his shorts when he filmed the movie to keep up his reputation
Never cared for him and quite honestly, I've never liked his jumpy style and his flurries. I have to admit I liked the movie about his story and cannot deny the man has a lot of character. He's by no means a great fighter though he certainly has a lot to be proud for.
Is Jumpy on the Hip Hoppy scale or is Hip Hoppy on the Jumpy scale ? I mean how many Jumps to a Hop or vise versa? Whadda we talking about here? And,once we've determined that, where does the Leap Amateur come in? Does it start with leaps, jumps or hops?
