Pacquiao was the fight that would have been the most lucrative for Mayweather. Kovalev, at the time wasnt the most lucrative offer for stevenson. their's a world of difference between the 2 situations.

weird that you cant even comprehend such a simple fact.

Stevenson Went to Showtime & Al Haymon/GBP, where it'd Presumably Be EASIER to Make a Fight w/the Biggest Name in the Division, Bernard Hopkins...

Only Problem is, Stevenson Fucked THAT Negotiation Up as Well, and Bernard Ended Up Facing Kovalev INSTEAD...If Anybody's Fueled by "Emotion" Here, it's YOU, Flat Out Refusing to Acknowledge Stevenson DUCKED Kovalev, Dude...

Showtime offer was better and more lucrative . Accepting a better offer doesnt equal ducking, the only persons who think this doesn't have the slightless clue on business negotiation. Any sane rational person would have done the same. Tell me, what kind of simpleton would have accepted the least interesting, least lucrative offer ? If you were Stevenson manager, which offer would you have taken ?

Yvon Michel said that he offered to HBO to match showtime offer, and they prefered not to. Not exactly the attitude of a ducker. HBO is much more to blame than Stevenson for this whole fiasco. especially since at that time, they had this ridiculous policy to not negotiate with Al Haymon (IIRC, they fortunately stopped this childish behaviour).

Really strange that I have to debate on such a simple fact.

Saying that Stevenson had ducked Kovalev is as risible as saying that Hopkins ducked Stevenson.

Stevenson ' s opting for showtime would've been more forgivable if he'd made the Hopkins fight (or even the pascal fight to a lesser extent). But he didn't. Instead, he did what fighters do when they intend to duck legitimate competition in favor of milking the fans he evidently has little regard for.

Well, he's got an uphill battle now, as he's close to being entirely marginalized in light of Kov ' s performance, his plans to next face suckcockzy, and his unlikely chances, as it turns out, to improve on Kov ' s performance if/when he faces hopkins (which is the far more likely scenario in the near term than a fight with kov).

this I agree on completely. Stevenson is really at a crossroad now, since he pretty much wasted the whole 2014 year, and he has to make a superfight soon, or he'll fall into irrevelancy. Though, in his defense, he really tried to make the Hopkins fight, source close to it's camp were saying that it was a done deal. As I said before, what was unnaceptable was his decision to fight susdiokevsiesjdkl when Hopkins decided to fight Kovalev, instead of making a pascal fight, which would have been huge in quebec and been a perfect set up for an unification fight with the winner of kov-hopkins.

And no, a hopkins fight just wouldn't cut it now.

BTW their is an excellent article on the Kovalev/Stevenson situation on boxingscene

Isn't Julio Cesar Chavez Jr weighting over 180 lbs? Kov could have a nice payday defending against Chumpez Jr.
