Terry Norris but that’s mainly because of his chin.

I could also see Canelo beating a guy like Julian Jackson and perhaps Donald Curry @ 154.

Canelo's not beating Jackson at 154. At 160 he's got a case, but Julian fucks him up at 154.

what about kasim ouma is alvarez beating him? harry simon? julio cesar vasquez? verno phillips? nino lacrocca? sergio martinez? paul williams? davey moore? milt mcCrory? herol graham?

which of them guys defeat alvarez?

Im sure seeing a shitload of guys who would defeat Alvarez. makes you wonder why Crawford is getting so much credit for beating this guy, 18 years into his career.

I could see prime Sergio Martinez beating Canelo... maybe... but maybe not given Martinez's mediocre chin and leaky defense. I could also see Simon and Vasquez possibly beating him. Canelo beats the rest of the guys on that list. No way in Hell Kasim Ouma beats Canelo. Nelo would counter Ouma to death.

Herol Graham had the talent and skill to beat Canelo, but he was one of the biggest choke artists in history. He'd find a way to blow it.

Canelo should probably be favored to beat Duran at 160.

Duran would be too experienced and skilled for the green Canelo at 154.

I think it's pretty apparent that Canelo's not beating Leonard, Hagler, Hearns.

Yeah, Froch would have absolutely brayed Canelo. The father still gets hugely underrated round these parts.

No. His best shot is Benn, but he'd have to survive a shit-ton of incoming early to do it.

Canelo's a pretty safe bet to beat Benn at 168.

At 160 Benn was quicker and more explosive. He's a dangerous fight for Canelo at middle.

The worst style match-up for Canelo out of that late 80s/early 90s era has gotta be Nunn.

    Nunn shuts Canelo out.

Agreed. Froch would walk him down and stop him late imo. Big, strong, rangy, agricultural cunt was Froch, was stamina to burn. Bad for Canelo, that.

Has a Brit ever come close to beating Alvarez? By my count he's bashed at least 7 of you lads! The smug cunt farmer can step up and make it 8 if he's really itching to get back in the ring as he claims

Thats too harsh. Froch doesn't stop Canelo. Canelo's chin is too good and if we're talking prime Canelo, his defense is also too good for Froch to stop him.

Roy and Toney are the only guys I think would stop Canelo at 168.

I'd pick the 168 Benn who beat McLellan to beat Canelo. Accepting that was an outlier performance, I'd give Canelo a reasonable chance to beat 168 Benn, but again, Benn would hit him and hit him harder than he's ever been hit, especially in those earlier rounds. Canelo would have to survive that and then not fade late to take advantage of Benn doing so. None of that is a given, at all imo.

Agreed on Nunn, though I think he's overrated on this forum tbh.

In defense of the Brits, Billy Joe and the Smith brothers are mediocre fighters. And rest in peace to Ricky, but his brother was a bum.

By the ninth or tenth round, Froch would be walking him into corners and hammering into him. Canelo fades late in fights. Froch doesn't and he's be throwing bunches of shots for Canelo to avoid. Froch at 168 was a big, strong unit with endless stamina and plenty of power. Canelo would do well to hear the final bell imo - he'd be in survival mode through the last two rounds imo.

Nah. I'd have to disagree. Not with the prediction overall, I do think Froch would beat Canelo, but it certainly wouldn't be a battering. Canelo's too good for that. He'd be competitive with Froch.

Jones, Ward, Calzaghe, Toney? Yeah, Canelo's NOT competitive against those guys.

Yeah, Canelo built a good rep beating mediocre British fighters. He has always been good at beating B-/C class fighters.

They are basically bums at world level. In the 1990s, at 160-168, they would have been domestic level fodder.

You really hate Frocky, mind lol

Matthew Hatton. Welterweight. Ryan Rhodes, MW, stopped in a few rounds by Jason Matthews, outscored by Otis Grant. As Feebles says, Bums at an elite level. Mondo this and Rocky that.

    None of them beat Froch.

Froch, Benn, and Collins are the best arguments Canelo has at 168.

I think prime Kessler whups Canelo and I always said that.

Na, he didn't win a round and just covered up like all Joe Gallagher boxers do in big fights.

Out of the Brits, Khan did the best against Canelo. Actually tried to win and was arguably up on the cards when he got flatlined.

I don't have Vargas down as this Harry Greb style windmill who'd just be too active. He'd give Canelo a lot of target and his power isn't that big. He'd have a better chance than David Reid or Oba Carr. Carr is underpowered and Reid has that eye issue and his own stamina problems too.
