I am going within the next week to speak with him about his unification fight coming up with Julio Diaz, and I thought it could be cool to put the interview Q&A on the new fightbeat radio show.
If he is in a talking mood he'll answer a lot, but if he isn't, he will answer just a few -- just like any other high profile fighter in training for a big fight will.
Ask away and I will pick the best questions to present to him, folks.
    Thanks;
    Karl

    Juan,
how much are you paying to StingerKarl?
Don't you think you should hire a professional spokesperson at this stage of your career?
Thank you, and good luck, Champ!

The decision to air it on the program will be up to Carlos, of course.

Major mistake you just made, poster.
This is a serious discussion thread with a high profile world champion and you are trying to louse it up for all concerned here.
I have the feeling that you will be dealt with.

Stinger, I'm so very sorry for asking this totally inappropriate question.
The only reason I asked it was because I was sure you woudln't see it, because you told me repeatedly I was on your ignore-list.....
Hmm....speaking of that.....How can you see my posts, if I'm on your ignore list? :dunno: :eeeek:

on a side note, karl not sure if you saw but my latest article was semi-centered around Juan, and more specifically his (and the other Diaz') efforts in clearing up the muddled lightweight picture.

for this topic - how he's enjoyed working with King, in comparison to his time served w/ Main Events, and where he presently stands on whether or not to re-up w/ King after this fight. (I already know the answer  , but figured it'd make for a good conversation piece on your next show)

ask Juan how he plans on dealing with Julio's penchant for switching from right to lefty instantaneously

does he regret signing with Don King when it seems like the lightweight division is there for a guy like him yet this is really his first signifigant bout since signing with King?

    Thanks Karl and goodluck

ask him if he feels as though it is problematic having a manager who uses him as leverage to recoup monies owed him by promoters.

furthermore ask him if it is an awkward situation when you are clearly your managers lone meal ticket and how it affects your opportunities to further your caeer.

ask him if rematches with ubaldo hernandez and eleazar contrerras loom on the horizon.

ask him the relative merit the term "high profile" has when used by a pugilistic expert such as your good self, stinger

    thank you.

Why don't you be a man about it and go ask him yourself to his face the questions you lack the guts to ask him and want someone else to do it?
Now he's not gonna kick your ass, but you are going to get chucked out of the gym into the parking lot by someone there.

I recorded a sparring session between Juan and Ubaldo. Juan kicked the crap out of him. The Contreras fight was bad matchmaking and shows how Willie's ultra-paranoid protection of Juan was justified earlier in his career.

Funny (and accurate) questions above for Willie, lmao.

Aske him if his primary goal right now is to be undisputed at 135.

Ask how comfortable he is at 135 and if he has future plans to move to 140.

I kind of feel bad for the kid...he could be undisputed at 135 without a big money fight in the division UNLESS Manny Pacquiao wanted to move up five pounds.

I don't know if he'll answer this, but could you ask him:

Have you ever fought in front of an openly hostile crowd before, can you explain what that was like and how you dealt with it?

Because not only will David Diaz (the WBC champ) be there (who is very popular in town), but Julio Diaz was born in Mexico and will no doubt be the HUGE crowd favorite in this one.

In fact, between David Diaz's Chicago fan base -- that takes it as an insult that these two are fighting here after David just defended against Morales -- and the Mexican fans who roundly cheer all fighters from Mexico and jeer the guys facing them (they even booed David Diaz when he entered the ring against Erik Morales) ... I think Juan's going to be stepping into an arena like the one Hagler encountered when he faced against Minter.

Juan better be mentally prepared for that.

I was there when Demetrius Hopkins beat a local fighter (Speedy Gonzales) and he was pelted with beer and cups, and confronted by angry fans, heading back to the dresssing room. Lou Duva said he hadn't been in a crowd like that since Golota and Bowe caused a riot at MSG.

I think Juan Diaz's management screwed up when they agreed to fight here.

I'd be interested to know what he thinks of Katsidis, whether he has seen any of his fights, and whether thats a fight he would be interested in the future.

I'm sure he will come out with some 'I'm not looking past Julio etc', so try pressing him on it a little.

Also, if you could ask him whether he believes the time he has dedicated to study has helped or hindered his development as a fighter.

    Thanks!

One thing I will say about Juan is that since he's hit his prime, he seems to be a lot more comfortable doing interviews, and offering answers beyond "I fight who they put in front of me... talk to my manager." I talked to him last week for the first time in over a year and he was far more receptive than any other time I've interviewed him.

I did... but I guess you didn't read it, since it posted yesterday

Anyway, I think it's a great idea to have Diaz on the show. I thought the old radio show worked out great when Bundini and Sandy had guests on every week (and if I'm not mistaken Juan was on one week).

If he's in a talkative mood I'll do what I can.
The best day for that is Friday as it is a no sparring day, but I'm not sure I can get over there Friday morning.

I know everything may change with every fight. But I would like you to ask him who the top 3 fights on his radar are after the Julio fight. Does he see himself moving divisions? How does he feel that some consider Casa as the "Real" champion at 135?

 You have a way with words, Stinger.

Personally, I don't know what value Dymipepel brings to the site anyway, he's never serious...ever. Just ignore him.
