Who are these guys? Give us some examples of guys he can or could have fought that fit this description.

It's not that. It's just that has bigger opponents have all been fabulous style matchups for him... other than maybe Clottey, who is great at losing.

Before he fought any of these guys, how many of us would have picked Pac to beat Oscar, Cotto, Margarito, Mosley and Clottey?

Oscar was big favorite, and most people here including myself picked Oscar to destroy Manny.

    Absolutely.

Most of us have picked him to win every fight since Oscar, however. As I said, I still consider it a remarkable run.

Me too, and I don't think people in here give him enough credit. He's a friggin midget. Marquez was even bigger than him.

For starters, he ducked the Marquez rubbermatch at a lower weight.

    then he fought

    David Diaz... nuff said

the corpse of Oscar De La Hoya

Hatton AFTER Floyd had already KO'd and who had trouble making weight

Cotto AFTER taking a career-altering plaster-fisted beating at the hands of Margarito

Joshua Clottey - BANG!! BANG!! BANG!! a "dangerous welterweight" according to the craziest nuthuggers on here, happy to stand around and lose without a fuss

Margarito - AFTER the plaster scandal and getting beat down by Shane

Mosley - AFTER Floyd kicked his ass (before that, recall that Roach said they would only fight Shane at a catchweight of 142)

His post 130 run is a marketing scam targeted at fanboys who don't know better or who don't want to know better.

Timing is everything with Manny Pacquiao. They tried it again by waiting several years and weight divisions to see JMM a third time, but it backfired on them this time.

The guy is a fucking fraud. His fanboys are making excuses for him now, but the bottom line is that he isn't remotely in the same class as Floyd Mayweather, never has been, and never will be.

Do you think that Marquez was also on drugs in their last fight?

    most likely yeah

I'm pretty much with loadedgloves... not as extreme, but I think Pacquiao is fucking crazily overrated past 130... Fuckers like Sly saying he'd go tooth and nail with Ray Leonard, for fuck's sake... That is ridiculous... In fairness, it's equally repugnant to call Mayweather some welterweight legend considering he's been fighting a lot of the same guys... but I'm more convinced of Floyd the welterweight than Manny the welterweight

For the purposes of Pascals question, I'd be in the "Both" category for this one... I think anyone who thinks Marquez wasn't on some shiny new drugs for saturday night is nuts

    I'm not.

Floyd has only fought 2 legit welterweights, Baldomir and Mosley. And Oscar at 154. This is in the HALF A DECADE he's been fighting at WW

Cotto is better than any welterweight Floyd has beaten, and Manny beat the crap out of him.

I think they would both get beaten clearly at 147 by Duran/Leonard, but I also think they're good enough to at least put up a decent fight against any WW in history apart from Hearns, who is stylistically horrible for pretty much any small welterweight.
