I remember reading an interview with Holmes a long time ago in which he said he was offered a Foreman fight in 1976, but he passed on it and Dino Denis ended up taking the fight instead...with predictable results.

It was probably a smart move by Holmes at that time.

 

Ring size would make a real difference in a Foreman-Holmes fight, I think. Bigger the better for Holmes

You are right, a bigger ring would benefit Holmes, because Foreman was actually good at cutting the ring off and he wasn't as easy to outbox as is often suggested.

 

A clown ring would definitely be a godsend for Holmes. If I had my way every fight would strictly be in an 18x18 space. :fightme:

True...but he also was good enough to come really close against Norton and handle Ron Lyle twice.

Young had an up and down career...but there was a time when he was good enough to hang with any heavy around in the 70's.

Foreman may have been not all that interested in a Quarry fight, but there's little doubt in my mind that he would have beaten Quarry with room to spare. Quarry was a good fighter, but in over his head against the very best.

 

Yeah, Quarry may have presented a modicum of danger as a natural counterpuncher with some spirit, but I have no doubt in my mind that George would have eventually pounded him bloody
