THIS is one of the greatest pieces of music ever conceived... Debussy was a genius... The orchestral version is also astonishing, incredible arrangement by Debussy... I recommend Charles Dutoit's reading with the Montreal SO

FWIW, i thought the debussy piece was pretty understated. It would obviously take allot of talent to play solo on the piano given all the various harmonies going on but the lead melody line itself is pretty restrained. Things should be as simple as they can be, but no simpler.

it is one of those pieces of music that sounds easier than it is... it's actually very complicated

 

I'd say preferring the music of one of the greatest and most influential composers in history to that of an out-of-control guitar teacher means my ears are working spectacularly well

It doesn't sound easy at all! I just meant that the lead melody line, taken by itself on the piano at least, is (for the most part) relatively restrained/sparse.

 

I tend to put way too many fucking qualifications and subclauses in most the sentences I write. It's neurotic, I'm not sure what it's about.

 

This whole show should be constantly fired into outer space on all frequencies :love:

It's only out of control to your untrained ear. Satriani is good and all, but he's far from my favorite.
