    THIS is one of the greatest pieces of music ever conceived... Debussy was a genius... The orchestral version is also astonishing, incredible arrangement by Debussy... I recommend Charles Dutoit's reading with the Montreal SO

    I love Debussy and Ravel

    FWIW, i thought the debussy piece was pretty understated. It would obviously take allot of talent to play solo on the piano given all the various harmonies going on but the lead melody line itself is pretty restrained. Things should be as simple as they can be, but no simpler.

    It doesn't sound easy at all! I just meant that the lead melody line, taken by itself on the piano at least, is (for the most part) relatively restrained/sparse.

    I tend to put way too many fucking qualifications and subclauses in most the sentences I write. It's neurotic, I'm not sure what it's about.

    that is what makes it so beautiful... this simple, flowing little melody framed by these lush chords and little counterpoint mini-melodies and harmonies... incredible stuff... do check out the orchestral version, please
