It deserves all of its iconic status and acclaim... Those first two films are basically perfect

  2. Hut*Hut

    Hut*Hut The Mackintosh of temazepam

I don't really enjoy brutality either, tbh, i'm a bit of a poof. 'Wow did you see that guys arm get chopped off!? Thats entertainment!'

I never even managed to make it through OUATIA. And I tried 2 or 3 times.

  4. I think....just a guess...but that kind of stuff happened back in the day.

I'm not sure Clogg has seen The Conversation(?) You might be thinking of me mentioning it, thats my fave film ever

  6. The acting performances in that...are better than Codfather.
    And the direction.

    And pretty much everything else.

  7. Hut*Hut

    Hut*Hut The Mackintosh of temazepam

Well its my fave movie ever so i agree but not by much. Both godfather films are off the charts good.

of course I have seen it!

My favorite actor is the star and it is one of his finest performances

What do you think I am, some sort of Philistine??????

"Once Upon A Time In America"! Anagrams are for children. :nono:

It's not quite in the class of "The Godfather" movies, but the long form version released in Europe is a legitimate classic. Kind of a grittier, dirtier version of "Godfather II".

The shorter U.S. cut of the movie is a fucking travesty. If that was the only version that saw the light of day, it would never be rated at all.

Really pounds home that the editing process can make or break a film.

SOORRRRY  is it network you haven't seen? I'm sure i remember recommending you one of my faves recently-ish.

    I'm young at heart.

I'll try rewatching the thing again some time when I'm bed ridden with a hangover. I do love the sets of early 20th century NYC

  12. cdogg187

    cdogg187 GLADYS

I don;t think there is a highly regarded film from the 70s that I haven't seen at least once

It's curious how cdogg ignores Gene Hackman's portrayal of Oliver Cromwell in "The best man who ever lived". The film along with Hackman won 124 Oscars.

  14. Here's some high-regarded, not-so-well-known thrillers:
    The Parallax View
    The Long Goodbye
    The Mechanic
    The Killer Elite
    Three Days Of The Condor
    Two-Minute Warning
    The Driver
    Magic

    django was crap

Once Upon A Time in America is a good movie, but doesn't compare to the Godfather films imo (i've only seen the 229 min version)

This is where this overrated/underrated stuff gets murky and why I don't usually bother with these discussions including in boxing.

    But "Crap"? Cmon.

    REEDsART MATCHMAKER

As an ACTOR, REED Thinks he's Incredibly Overrated...He's the SAME Dude in just about Every Film...Most of the People that Praise Eastwood Grew Up WATCHING him & are Understandably NOSTALGIC about the Ol' Fart...

oh yeah. he is definitely one of those guys that are the same. But he is one of the actors that you go see because he is him. It's like reading the same character in many different books in different situations.
