Also he was kneed in the face by Roberson towards the end of the game, didnt go out though. Will probably miss a few weeks you'd think.
What is it with Scott Brooks that he feels he always has to have a net negative player starting to make sure we're playing at a disadvantage either 3 on 5 or 4 on 5. Roberson should not be fucking starting. He's supposed to be our best 1on1 defender but I haven't seen where he is any better than other guy's on the team. Plus he's just an average shooter who too often passes up open looks because he has no confidence in his shot and he's a mediocre finisher who often get's his layup blocked by a guy not even jumping. On top of that the moron just took Westbrook out of an MVP conversation he was barely in to begin with.
Morrow should be starting, just to space the floor. I'm pretty sure most NBA coaches are salivating at the thought of coaching the current OKC roster. Lots of shooters, two superstars and two solid centers + Ibaka.
Agree RE Roberson. Slow your roll on the Westbrook out of the MVP conversation. First game back has a 49 point triple double. Four triple doubles in a row. Unreal.
Yeah, Westbrook has AGGRESSIVELY Inserted Himself into the MVP Conversation... It's Still Steph Curry's Award to Lose, but it's Time Curry Get Back to REMINDING Voters why he was the Favorite @ the All Star Break...Bron's Been Making a Push Himself, but Having Already Won it 4 Times, it's Unlikely he'll Win Another...Harden's Probably Been the Most CONSISTENT MVP Contender, from the Beginning of the Season to Now... But Back to Westbrook...WOW!!!...Dude is Shitting Out Triple Doubles w/the Greatest of Ease...& Not your Jason KiddESQUE 10, 10 & 10 Triple Doubles, Either...49, 16 & 10 Last Night...40, 13 & 11 his Previous Game...39, 14 & 11 the Game Before That... 48, 11 & 9 Earlier this Season...25, 11 & 14 in Another Game...17, 15 & 16 in yet Another (in just 24 Fucking Minutes!!!)...Even w/Westbrook Missing 15 Games & Durant Missing 34, OKC's Still 5 Games Over .500, Currently Sitting 8th in the West... Indeed, Russell Westbrook has AGGRESSIVELY Inserted Himself Into the MVP Mix...If Not the "Most Valuable" Player in the League, Westbrook has Certainly Been the Most SPECTACULAR, this Season... REED:mj:
I think it's going to be harder for him to keep the triple doubles up now that the media started making a big deal about it. Not only will it be in his head now, which might mess up his game as he'll be thinking about it too much, but opponents might actually double him and key in on preventing his effectiveness. I think Russ has an argument for MVP but I don't think it's realistic that he's a serious candidate. Steph and Harden have both been more consistent, healthy and their teams have won a lot more. I believe the health thing is his biggest blow to keeping him out of serious contention.
Or Even Sneak in Some 20 Assist Games... Double Teams Can Dilute Westbrook's SCORING, but Not his Overall EFFECTIVENESS... REED:mj:
Westbrook playing like a madman right now. Almost want to tell him to save it for the playoffs, but you just know he's playing the way he is because he knows that if he doesn't, his team won't make the playoffs, and he just can't live with that happening.
Westbrook's Been CONSISTENTLY Good This Season...His #'s are As Good, if Not BETTER than Steph and Harden's... Westbrook - 27pts, 7reb, 8.2ast, 2stls, 3.9to's, 43%fg Curry - 23.8pts, 4.5reb, 7.8ast, 2.1stls, 3.1to's, 48%fg Harden - 26.9pts, 5.8reb, 7ast, 1.9stl, 4to's, 45%fg & Whenever Westbrook is Hurt, OKC LOSES, Which Boosts his MVP Credentials...Westbrook's Missed 15 Games & OKC's LOST 10 of Those...There's Another Game where Westbrook Got Hurt, Only Played 9 Minutes & they Lost as Well...So that's 11 Out of 16, Really... Sooooo, Coming Into Tonight, OKC's Record was 29-11, w/Westbrook...That's a Winning % of Right @ 73%, which is CLEARLY MVP Level... REED:hammert:
OKC's the 1 Team in the League w/2 True ALPHA's in REED's Opinion...Neither Guy Needs to Defer to the Other...Granted, Durant will Need to Fall in Line Until his Body Allows him to Be DURANT Again, Though... Westbrook & Durant have Played 6 YEARS Together Now...More Importantly, Westbrook ISN'T Playing Any Different than he's ALWAYS Played...@ a Higher Level, Sure, but the Combative, High Energy, Ultra Competitive Style of Play has ALWAYS Been Part & Parcel of Russell Westbrook... Durant will Need to Pick his Spots, but Come Playoff Time, REED Doesn't See Any Reason for EITHER Guy to Defer to the Other...Play like You've BEEN Playing... REED:hammert:
Some guys don't handle that kind of pressure well, and it also doesn't allow them to see the floor as well. It seems like it should be easy to hit the open man if you're double teamed but watching the games you can tell it's easier said then done. I don't think Westbrook would be as effective getting double teamed as say, Steph Curry. I know he has been consistently good. My main point was good health kind of factors into the MVP conversation. Harden and Curry have shown more consistently good health then Westbrook has and kind of like getting all-star consideration from coaches and media, health plays a part in that and I think he's missed too much time to be fairly considered against those two. As much as I'd love Westbrook to win MVP, even I don't think he is in serious contention this season and I feel the same way about Lebron James. IMO it just wouldn't be fair for either of them to win it over Harden and Curry.
Assuming they make the playoffs. It's a damn shame either OKC or New Orleans could be on the sidelines for the playoffs. Even with the high level Westbrook has played it didn't equate to wins all around. There's only so many shots in a game and when you've got a shit coach and other talented players I don't believe how Westbrook is currently playing advances OKC if they make the playoffs. It's not like OKC has the talent the Laker's had when Kobe was playing with Smush Parker and Kwame Brown. Ibaka is legit. Waiters is a good player off the bench. They have other options.
As Loooooooooong as Westbrook &/or Durant are ON the Court, there's NO Chance of OKC Missing the Playoffs...Even in the West, they're Simply Toooooo Good... If Everybody Plays THEIR Role, it'll Work Out Fine... Durant & Westbrook Carry the Scoring Load, Westbrook Does the Facilitating, Ibaka MANS the Paint & Occasionally Stretches the Floor w/Timely Midrange Shooting & 3's...Waiters Carries the Scoring Load Off the Bench, Augustin Facilitates Off the Bench...Those are 4 RELIABLE Pieces Right There... Anything Kanter & Singler Contribute is GRAVY...Adams & Collison Provide Defensive Toughness AND 6 Fouls...It CAN Work... REED:hammert:
Kanter ain't Perkins. He ain't the kind of guy who you say "whatever scoring he brings is gravy". From what I've seen the guy has an even better more efficient post game then Adams does and I actually think Kanter needs to be the starter. Only problem Kanter has is he's not very athletic so he seems to get less rebounds then you would like from your center. I'm still flabbergasted by the Robinson is a starter thing. I mean he just gets penciled in there after having done fuck all to earn it. Same with Singler who just joins the team and gets starting nods over Jones and Morrow. Meanwhile Jones was the one who got us 2 wins when Westbrook and Durant were out but instead of Brooks trying to develop that, Jones gets put right back on the shelf.
Sure, it's "Only" the Regular Season, but You HAD to Be Impressed w/Irving's Performance the Other Night... The Spurs are @ the Point of the Season where they're Taking EVERY Game Seriously...They're Officially Gearing Up for a Defense of their Title...Nonetheless, Irving SHAT Upon Tony Parker in What was Supposed to Be a Point Guard Duel...IN SAN ANTONIO!!!... Meanwhile, Kawhi Leonard "Held" Bron to 31::... If Anyone Thought Otherwise, the Win Over the Spurs Fully Illustrates Cleveland is FOR REAL... REED:hammert:
The "Russell Westbrook for MVP" Movement Continued Last Night, w/29, 12 and 10 in a Win Over Minnesota... If he Continues to Play like THIS, for the Remainder of the Season, it Just Might Be Enough to Sway Voters... REED:hammert:
Westbrook needs to take OKC deep into the playoffs to get the MVP. Otherwise Harden or Curry would get the nod. IMO Lebron is the MVP. Compare the Cavs' record to last year's record and there's more than proof. No, Kevin Love has nothing to do with that.
