Meh. Zep by a landslide considering their entire catalogue, even though I'm not a fan by any stretch. DP do have arguably the most well known riff of all time though, as much as you may hate it, has to count for something though.
That's just it: Led Zeppelin's catalogue is vastly overrated as are Led Zeppelin. The truth is, they were done by 1973. And no-one likes Zeppelin more than I.
You're probably right, as I said, not a huge fan personally but their catalogue is humongous. They'll always be held in high regard. I know fuck all about Deep Purple other than their guitarist is from Hounslow, but again, he did write arguably the most well known riff ever, so yeah
FFS!!! Western-super-Mare!!!! I love the fact that cdogg hates Ritchie Blackmore, yet...he doesn´t actually know why.
Although I do agree Pagey gave him a run for his money: ...until Pagey started getting into heroin, cocaine and young girls (and boys, unfortunately)
no contest Deep Purple couldn't even come up with a single genuinely good song Might as well start a "John Lennon vs. Bryan Adams" thread next, you fucking deaf faggot I believe I've repeatedly smashed it out of the fucking park on this topic Use the search function for terms like "Zeppelin", "Blackmore", "Purple", "Mustard = deaf twat", etc.
Wrong. Wrong. Wrong. You´ve done nothing and you´ll do nothing. You´re one of those typical American, Jack Black types who think Zeppelin are the Holy Grail of Raawwwwwk Music - ´The Beatles of The 70s´ when in fact, they´re nowhere near that.
I'm absolutely right about this One of these bands had great songs and a dynamic exciting rhythm section The other didn't have a single genuinely good song and had a 'Eavy rhythm section supporting a hugely irritating vocalist and two absolutely unbearable tits who played rock and roll exactly like what they were: a pair of cunts not good enough at classical music to hack it with a community orchestra ... outside of ELP digging up Modest Mussorgsky's corpse (and by proxy, Ravel's) and subjecting it to sexual abuse, it's hard to fathom a more despicable display of musical charlatanism than Lord's pathetic "Concerto" wherein he and Blackmore trade licks in front of an ensemble neither was qualified to shine the shoes of... utter disgrace A totally minor, insignificant band who influenced only daft metalheads ... I've been playing music for 30 years and I've met like two guys that thought highly of Deep Purple... both were deaf wankers who sludged away on their respective instruments, not a clue in their thick heads about dynamics, harmony, song structure, swinging It's SHIT... the only comparison between these bands is era, hairstyles and country of origin Might as well do a "The Kinks vs Herman's Hermits" thread next, you deaf fucking cunt that I hope dies violently tonight
See my post before yours, asshat. Anyway, Led Zeppelin (who I like) represented this genre's ´height´, with mystical, overblown epics, ventures into the world of the occult, blatant cock-rock attitude and a pretentiousness that had no equal. Agreed? Black Sabbath (who I also like) took the genre to its ultimate 'height', to the point where it was already on the border of gross, with nothing but Tony Iommi's riffs to save them from a total tailspin into gothic banality. 99% of their followers were stupid and trashy, soon to enter the Wastebin of Rock History. Deep Purple were never stupid or blatant enough to pretend that what they were playing was something bigger than just rock'n'roll with a little bit more distortion and a lot more speed/flashiness than usual - they´re just limited in style. They have probably 2-3 classic albums against Zeppelin´s 4-5. Gillan > Plant Blackmore > Page Plus, Led Paedolin
Stopped reading at "this genre"... Led Zeppelin are not in whatever "genre" third-rate noisemakers like Deep Purple or Black Sabbath are in ... it's like pretending King Crimson and Stravinsky are in the same "genre"
Songs Led Zeppelin has them Deep Purple does not This is pop music... the song is the thing... "Highway Star", "Woman From Tokyo", etc ... this garbage wouldn't make the cut for side 2 of CODA
Again, wrong. In fact, Deep Purple´s songs are way more ´catchier´ than Zeppelin´s which is why they quit releasing singles after their most well-known ´catchy´ tune, ´Whole Lotta Love´: Good stuff, eh, cretin?
What the fuck video is that? Random shit Whole Lotta Love is one of the worst Led Zeppelin songs ... hate it Would've been the highlight of every Deep Purple album ever
It's 'Whole Lotta Love', clod. The Zeppelin 'pop' song you were talking about earlier, now you're changing your mind. Typical.
The old paedo/sloppy guitarist at it again. This time atop a London double-decker bus with X-Factor winner-now-working-in-John-Lewis-store, Leona Lewis: (Lewis can be clearly seen shouting "Who is this priiiiiiick?")
No one born later than 1978 has ever heard of Blackmore, though Page has at least a legacy to cash in on and sell-out on Blackmore's legacy is that he's one of the people who inspired braindead, artless faggots to create the worst development in the history of stringed instruments- "Shred Guitar"
Look at that bratty sissy throwing a tantrum Cameraman was probably like "you're songs are completely shite... Deep Purple In Rock?? Morelike Deep Purple SUCK COCK, AMIRITE???"
