here's historical fact Robinson won 5 out of 6 fights, so it follows from that he had a bad day the one time he lost. "Some were split decisions and even the UD's were close" - This is historical fact? Care to point to who showed you these fights you're talking about? Chris Byrd holds a 117-111 win against Fres Oquendo, yet the tape shows a completely different fight. Would you say Byrd dominated Oquendo as you're saying Lamotta fought close with Robinson? "LaMotta was more past prime then Robinson was for almost all of these fights" And this is historical fact also? Who had moved up in weight the most between the two, who had the most fights between the two, whose record indicates more of a slip before and after? Your post oozes with irrationality and ignorance, and its fitting Joony step into this to argue against me
Bro you are really ignorant and thick headed ... Your lack of boxing knowledge is incredible ... I swear by your posts that you are just screwing around with me because no way anyone could really think the way you do. It's funny how you mention Byrd Vs Oquendo ... If you look at our situation here , I'm the guy that would be saying it was a very close fight and could have gone either way. You are the guy saying that Byrd owned Oquendo because of the 117-111 scorecard ... You just hung yourself with your own example ... :: What I said was a historical fact . - Period , end of fucking story. You can't sit here and re-write history ..
i think he meant to say that people assume robinson vs. lamotta was close based on what the scores were or what they read. he was using oqueno-byrd as an example trying to say that oquendo won the fight, but people who didnt see the fight will look back on the scores and assume that byrd easily won.
no way to tell really how close those robinson/lamotta fights were. i've only seen the last fight and there were moments where lamotta was able to close the gap and do some damage on the inside. in robinson's biography, lamotta is mentioned as his toughest opponent. Lamotta also knocked him down in their 3rd or 4th fight.
Dude cmon, I just destroyed your post laced with "historical fact" and you come back with "Bro you are really ignorant and thick headed ... Your lack of boxing knowledge is incredible ... I swear by your posts that you are just screwing around with me because no way anyone could really think the way you do." The example showed that actual scores aren't exactly perfect representations of how a fight transpired, having actually seen the fight is the only way to know for sure.
I know in the second fight LaMotta sent Robinson through the ropes and Robinson was saved from getting KTFO by the bell ... Both LaMotta & Robinson would batter Baldomir into Bolivian ....
:: :: I knew that long before Boxrec was ever thought of. Heck , I knew that before the internet was available ....
Seriously, I don;t know what is wrong with jaws when it comes to anything before color TV, I really don't The fights are there to be seen, but he seems to be watching something very different than what is there
