Yep, I'm a bit burnt out after yesterday's hard push. I definitely need to take a day off. So tomorrow is off and I get back to it on Sunday. I went to the can after I played hockey for an hour or so, and I struggled to get'em. I'm spinning my wheels so I need to gear down. I'll wait til Sunday.
Yesterday I took the day off and this morning I felt good and ready to go. I did 4 no problem like I was stretching. I feel good and I'm gonna do 4 all this week.
Second set of 4 and I feel fine. Looks like this is the way to take it for now. Nice and easy. I feel like 5 days in a row is the limit. Anymore than that and I start to feel overtrained. At the end of those 5 days, I take a two-day break and then it is time to add one rep. I'll be doing 50 per day in no time. ::
Man. 5 sets of 4 and 1 set of 5. Twenty-five chinups and I wasn't even trying much. Eventually I'll be doing 100 a day, no problem. ::
awesome Buddy! I actually missed today, aside from a few here and there, we went out and played tennis and then I ran some laps and my legs were dead and I just didn't feel like doing any thing else.. just eat :: I might make it 100 MONDAYS this week ::
Christmas Eve: December 24th at 8 in the morning. First set of 5 is done. I feel like I worked a teensy bit, but no matter.:bears:
I just started doing this greasing the groove thing after hearing you guys talk about it. It's only been a week and I already notice how easier it's getting to do chinups. Unforunately, I can only do them at the gym since I don't have a chinup bar at home. So I have to spread my sets out over an hour, rather than the entire day. Do I need more time in between sets to make this exercise more effective?
I dunno. Heck, if there is a tree outside your place, you can do them. The way I figure it, if you do a few and then go back every 10-15 minutes and do another few, you'll still get a good rate of return.
Really though I think it can be done with pretty much any bodyweight exercise and a person will get great results. I plan to start with handstand pushups. One every few hours.
Two more sets of 5 done. The more I do them, the easier it gets. I'll knock off a few more sets tonight and then wait until tomorrow.
100 done.. I think I'm really gonna start working on handstands as well.. I do handstand pushups using the wall but I really wanna be able to walk on my hands well
Lokster, Merry Christmas Day! I've been doing 5 sets of 5 this week and so far it's all gravy. I am also doing pushups to a lesser extent. I have to make sure my shoulder is fine before I grease the groove on handstand pushups. Eventually I'll be able to walk on'em as well.
Well, I did like 7 sets of 5 throughout the day while cooking and serving food to my gluttonous family, and I'm starting up the pushups. When I get to 7 sets of 25 in the pushups, I'll do handstand pushups. First I wanna make sure my shoulders can handle it comfortably. Merry Christmas, and keep greasing the groove, guys! :bears:
i've been alternating between chin-ups and dips so i have both pushing and pulling motions...so if i'm at home i'll do either chin ups or dips every 15 min or so
I'm so sore today! yesterday we played lots of tennis, several Sprint races, back bridges, pushups, chinups, ab wheel roll outs (I still can not do a full range from my feet but getting closer each time!)
Well, I have done a few sets of chins but otherwise I relaxed since I'll be hitting the gym bigtime tomorrow. Speaking of which, time to do another set. I did a ton of sets yesterday.
Today is the last day of my week for chins. I'm off to the gym and then I start 6s next week. I'm gonna set up a big ten for each hour and see how that works. 1. Chinups 2. Pushups 3. Hanging Leg Raise 4. Grip Machine 5. Neck Raises 6. Pistols 7. One-legged Calf raise 8. Handstand Pushup. 9. Wrestler's bridges 10. Wall sits
awesome stuff Buddy.. I just implemented sprinting into my plan and man.. I feel like I was doing heavy squats for 10 sets!! The sprinting REALLY works you good!! just all out 100 meter sprints.. Also.. if you dont have one, buy or make an ab wheel.. to do this from your feet takes a LOT of strength!!
Man, I just came from the gym and I am wiped. I did 13 reps with my bodyweight plus 2-lbs in the weightvest. That means my arms were pulling almost 240 for 13 reps. If I get 15 reps later this coming week, then it might be time to go up to 25 or 30lbs. I went from chins to doing heavy squats and then worked my abs. Hard work pays off. I'm definitely going to need more potassium though because I'm getting muscle cramps throughout my legs. Guess I shouldn't have been hungover. ::
tomorrow is Sunday Buddy! I get excited about sundays now.. 100 chins is getting easier and easier as I do them all week you GOTTA try the ab wheel rollouts check out Jim at Beastskills.com he has a tuturial on it.. I'm working on that now as well as my chins and pushups and handstand pushups
I was ripping them off yesterday and even held one at the top with a superwide grip. I've NEVER done that before. Natasha got a fairly decent photo or two of it. I'm WAY up there.
well.. 100 done today.. I swear though.. by 6pm I only had done like 45 or so.. I banged em out though..
