I did mine yesterday, finished late at night, my hands were a lil sore.. I like doing the saturday, then today is the only day I'll do like very little or no chins.. This method has worked great already, looking back its funny how hard chins were when I started
First day of the new week, and 7s, it is. I just think I should stick to the weekly. Eventually I might split it up a bit and half a rest day in between...or I might not. It's really not hard either way. I'm sticking to 5 days on 2 days off though.
you know when I first started doing Grease the groove on Chins I was doing sets of 3! now I'm doing sets of 10 it makes 100 chin sundays (or saturdays) easy cuz it's just 10 sets
Damn, it is hard to decide though because 8s would be easy. I'll give'em a whirl today to see how it feels.
I got a chinup bar two or three months ago and I love it. Great excercise for me who can't make it to the gym right now. I usually do alternate between pullups and chinups every day to two days. 1 set of 20 2nd set of 12 3rd set 8-10 4th set same. Plus I do standing wall pushups. You do a handstand against a wall and do pushups. Its very hard and I can do 11 max right now. I read this off a website, its like a squats for your upper body. Everybody should try it.
Breeze, the HSPU (hand stand pushups) are awesome! I do them on the wall to for now until my balance is better with it..
Well, it's 55 today. First set was 7 and all the rest were 8. It's nothing now! It's only been a month. If I keep it up, there's no telling how far I'll go.
According to the National Physical Fitness Award, 8 pullups or chins are required for that part of the program in order to get the Award. I did 7 sets of 8 reps and 1 set of 7 today, so I guess I satisfy that component. 17 year-olds have to be able to do 8 once. I want to be able to find the old Canada Fitness Test Awards and satisfy those components. If I can nail those and get excellence, that would be a fun way to shape up for summer.
I could have done 100 today if I had really wanted it, but I don't want to push it too hard at once. Eventually I will get that many and more.
Yeah LOK I love em. You feel pumped like crazy after youre done. I'm the same way I have to use the wall too. I saw this guy on the Guiness Book of World Recordsshow do 10 handstand pushups without the wall.
I'm gonna wait until I know my shoulder can handle it before I do heavy bench again. I'm gonna do the handstand pushups against the wall though to strengthen my shoulder.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lHZ8Kjq4P9k This guy nails them and does a few I don't see that often, LOK. :bears:
Geez, I think I might be a bit overtrained...or maybe I'm just wiped out. I went downstairs and the chins were all of a sudden hard as hell. I think I might need to take a day off. :dunno:
The dude that runs the site BeastSkills (Jim) can do them without the wall and jumping up and clapping!! That guy is awesome! he is working on doing a one handed hand stand pushup without the wall:eeeek:
Yeah Buddy, you might need a break. Take some vitimens and some high quality protein, that will help as well
I was working way too much in the office today (I had a high-pressure document going out to our federal Minister), and I didn't get the food in the afternoon that I normally get, so basically I didn't have any of the stuff I normally have. Tomorrow will be a different story. I'm gonna take a one-day break and load up on good food and water. I'll get back to it in no time. I still did 50 chins today. :dunno:
Buddy, you know when I do my 100 chin days... one weekend day each week, then I always take one day off.. .yesterday was my day off, I didn't do JACK (except my one mile run) and I always feel great after my day off.. and I make sure on the day off (as well as everyday) to get adequate protein, not like a freak bodybuilder drinking all this nonsense and crazy supplements but I do make sure I have some good protein food.. I think it really helps
As soon as I made that post, I got pissed off. :: Then I went downstairs all pissed off and did 8 no problem and probably could have gotten a muscle up to the top position if the ceiling wasn't so low. I'm not overtrained...just tired and not well-fed today. So that makes it 58 chins I did today. Tomorrow I won't do any other than 1 warmup set just before doing power presses. Then Wednesday I'll be doing my weighted chins like regular. I just have to make sure I drink enough water. Today I was so busy that I didn't drink two litres of water like I usually do along with a protein shake, so I feel flat and tired. Back to business tomorrow! BTW, 200th post!!!! :: ::
Well, it's a sick day for me so I'm at home with a fever. Ah well, I still got my 5 sets of 8 in about an hour. ::
I did prolly 6 sets of 10 yesterday, plus my running, today my back is really tightened up. I'm probably going to do my 100 tomorrow as Sunday I'll be watching football and drinking at a friends.. the elipitical on my hands is a hell of a workout!
Well, I decided to go for a set of 10 and I got it. So that is 50 chins this morning. Keep in mind that I'm 220lbs. 5 sets of 8 and 1 set of 10. It's not the most number of chins that I'm capable of. In fact, I wouldn't be surprised if I get 100 if I decide to keep going, but I think that 5 sets should be my regular maximum. Still, a once-a-week shakeup like LOK does is bound to drive the testosterone level upwards. :: I'll start alternating days where I do chins with days where I do handstand pushups. If I can do that regularly, then my standing power press and other upper body exercises should go right through the roof. :dunno:
I might start doing the 100-rep Sundays when I start doing sets of 10 reps on a weekly basis. Right now I'm getting ready to do sets of 9 for this week. I started out doing a fair bit less, so I have really made some improvements in the last little while.
I'm gonna try doing them with a day's rest in between this week to see how I feel! Shouldn't be afraid to experiment. :bears:
