The only time Pryor becomes overrated is when people pretend he could have moved up to 147 and been a threat to Leonard. Leonard would have fucked up Pryor very badly. Duran would fuck up Pryor also. But Pryor was very capable of beating the likes of a Chavez, Pac, Floyd at 140. And he was simply a higher caliber fighter than Tszyu.
Pryors whole rep is based off the Arguello fights. Nothing about him getting face planted by contenders no one had heard of before and accomplished nothing afterwards suggests he was this all-time elite. He's a bit of nostalgia that benefited from getting KO'd by crack before a boxer did it. I look at the tapes and that's what I see. He's one of the more disappointing 'legends' when you actually watch his fights. I get the appeal of the concept of this indestructible crude windmill but he was a "shocking upset" waiting to happen. He was also kind of small at 140.
I could see Floyd beating Pryor. Moreso than I could see Chavez or Pac beating him. And sure as FUCK more than I could see Tszyu beating him. Tszyu was a level below all these guys we're discussing.
You are thinking about the 36-year-old Pac, as most are. Nobody claimed Pac would get schooled by anyone when he destroyed Hatton and Cotto
Duran would fuck up Pryor based on what? Also..Duran "fucks up" Pryor (suggesting he beats him easily) but Pryor would beat Mayweather and Chavez and Pac? Lawd have mercy, your ignorance is staggering.
This thread tells me that many boxing fans are still unaware of how excellent a fighter Pacquiao is. I think people seem to be judging him primarily by the loss to Marquez. That's unfair. Shit happens in boxing; Lennox was knocked out by Rahman and McCall. We can't judge a fighter just by isolated situations like that. Pacquiao had as much stamina as anyone in the history of the game. His hand speed is up there with teh best. He hit hard. His footspeed is up there with teh best. he started out at flyweight and was stopping Welterweights late in his career. He's a genuine ATG in both talent and achievements. Also I think he's judged because he lost to Mayweather but the truth is...Mayweather is much better than given credit for. Pacquiao losing to Mayweather is more about how good Floyd is not how bad Pacquiao is.
No, I'm thinking of any version of PAC because they all get clowned by Whitaker. I would've said the same at any point. Don't project your casual views on us.... It's a clear stylistic mismatch.
We all watch boxing and we've all seen him fight so cut this "you just don't get it" bullshit when people don't agree with you. You sound like a teenage girl talking about Lady Gaga or something.
Pryor' best chance is against Pac because he'll swing with him, he can take Pac's individual shots and get through it and he can hurt Pac. Mayweather would potshot and counter him at will. Chavez would pick him apart and eventually duck him up. Duran just kicks the shit out of him.
I'm not gonna lie, 09 Pac is an extremely dangerous fight for Pryor because of his speed, power, and accuracy. But I think Pryor outlasts Pac in a classic. Pryor beats Chavez handily. The only thing we can agree on is Duran beats Pryor up.
It sounds especially ignorant coming from Sly because the idiot literally knows of no fighters outside of the the mainstream kind. Which is why he placed that bum Hatton in this tournament instead of a truly great junior welter like Cervantes or Locche, guys he knows nothing about. I don't take Sly's opinion seriously because there's a Floyd cock sucking agenda in everything he says.
If Pryor flailed punches with his chin in the air Chavez would pick him apart because he has no defense. If he tried to skip around the ring and throw flurries Chavez would walk him down and beat him up because he was an average boxer and Chavez isn't a stick in the mud like Arguello. Pryor is the guy that "doesn't belong". I don't personally dislike the guy at all, he just want that good. He benefited from ruining his own career in his prime.
