To be honest this year's Oscars are last year's Oscars all over again. With the sole exception of Mad Max Fury Road nomination (which we know has zero chances in hell to win) all the candidates are just a bunch of crappy boring ' birdman-like Academy fellatio wannabes. I am not watching this or maybe I'll tune in just in time to catch Leo's acceptance speech. And I predict that the ratings for this telecast will be among the lowest ever (last year's have the record).

I recommend this thoughtful analysis on why DiCaprio will win and no one will care.

Well, that is a possibility as some might argue that this isn't DiCaprio's best performance as he has very little dialogue and grunts through out the whole film. AND we know all the Academy's gays & lesbians will push their cause no matter who they sacrifice in the process.

    Breaking News:
Film director Spike Lee and actress Jada Pinkett Smith have said they will not attend next month's Oscars ceremony because of the mostly white nominees.
Among those overlooked were the NWA biopic Straight Outta Compton for best picture and Will Smith for best actor in NFL film Concussion.

His wife, Jada Pinkett Smith, said in a video message on Facebook that "begging for acknowledgement, or even asking, diminishes dignity and diminishes power."

Maybe the Academy just didn't think these movies or performances were as good as the ones chosen?

I agree they were pretty decent movies (Concussion would be average if it wasn't for Smith)....but to suggest the Academy is all of a sudden 'racist'...and then realize, "Oh yeah. It's Spike Lee on his soapbox. Again."
Jada Pinkett you can't take seriously because she is Will Smith's wife.

So, two skewed, probably biased opinions...

I find the whole thing embarrassing. The academy should be able to nominate whoever they want without fear of people crying bias. Because of this next year they'll probably nominate a plethora of black people whether they deserve it or not.

Striaght Outta Compton should have been nominated for Best Picture.

However, Will was shit on Concussion, and Concussion was a shit movie. Will doesn't deserve a nomination in the least bit.

I mean just because he attempted an African accent in a biopic means he should be nominated? Smith is a mediocre actor....and should stick to action films like Hancock and leave serious roles for serious actors.

This 'boycott' is the lamest thing ever. Protesting about 'lack of diversity' doesn't apply much here since those two fools knows very well the nominations are done by individual votes of each members of the academy on their respective categories: actors vote for actors, directors vote for directors, special effects technicians vote for visual effects, etc AND everybody votes for Best Picture. It is not like an elite board of Ku klux Klan Academy members decides behind the scenes.

Yeah, I was pissed that 'Creed' didn't got the nominations it deserved nor 'Straight Outta Condom', but I guess it received fewer votes than the others. Nothing to see here. Move on.

This is the year of Black protest. It's just fashionable right now. Unfortunately for them, nobody gives a shit about spike lee or Jada Pinkett.

I watched straight of Compton twice. And im sorry, but there is no way it should have been nominated for best picture. Some of the acting was laughable and the story was just okay, but really didnt get into the heart of some of the issues. No one has yet been able to justify it's worth as a best picture nominee.

Agreed, the acting was average a best. Giamatti as expected was the only good thing about the film acting wise as was Cube's son. Not a best picture worthy film despite it's success.

Also, can most people get off Leo's dick already. I like Dicaprio enough for the most part, but a lot of his individual work I find to be vastly overrated. He's completely hit or miss for me. His early work pre 2002 was more impressive and challenging. Every single actor he lost the Oscar to was well deserved. Do I think he'll win it this year, sure, should he for The Revenant, No. The same way I felt Denzel shouldn't have won for Training Day. Dicaprio is young Hollywood wise and will get many more opportunities to earn the gold statue, but people/critics need to shoving this "He deserves it" nonsense down our throats.

Richard Burton (7 nominations) & Peter O'Toole (8 nominations) were more deserving and NEVER WON!!!

I think Jada is just using race as an excuse... It's just an ego move for she and her hubby

Spike is serious, though I think he's wrong in this case

    Talented, my big black ass.

Only good film he ever made was Malcolm X IMO...and that film was largely carried by Washington's performance, and the intriguing ready made story. I don't like Spike's signature Directorial tricks, such as showing a stationary person with teh background moving and hearing the sound of footsteps. He does that shit in every film and it's simply not clever.

I think Spike isnt a great director, but he has had some good films.

Do the Right thing is a classic.
Malcolm X is probably his best work.
    Inside Man was decent
    Son of Sam Decent
25 Hour & Bamboozled were very good.
Clockers & Mo Better Blues were decent.
