That chinless bum would never handle Ike's pressure. This is the same Wlad who nearly got KO'd by the homeless man's Ike in Sam Peter. If Peter had any skills as a finisher he woulda gotten Wlad outta there. Ike had it all over Peter in spades, and would blast Wladimira out within 6.

Ignoring knowledge and indulging in echolocation.
By the same token, if Wladimir, who won atleast 9 rounds, had any balls whatsoever, he 'coulda, woulda shoulda' made Peter dance every round and stopped him. I think Ike is obviously overrated and Lennox Lewis would've crushed him, Lennox also crushes any version of Mike Tyson, but still and all, Peter can't hold Ike's oboe, it's not enough to call him 'a poor mans Ike'... Hasim Rahman's bitch (James Toney) who outboxed Sam Peter and made him the village dunce of boxing for a few months, could very, very, very well lose to an old Maskaev next :stir:.

I remember exactly how Tua was regarded pre-Lewis. He was regarded as an awesome puncher with moderately high workrate and iron chin, though possibly on his way down. He'd taken a string of easy fights to pad his record while waiting in line for a shot, and was coming into fights heavier and heavier. He had I think only the one loss on his record at the time to Ike, which was considered controversial by many people. Lots did pick him to beat Lewis, though Lewis was still a clear betting favorite. Tua was the best guy fighting for the title at the time, and part of the reason was that he did so well against Ike.

I think Tua KO'd Ruiz long before he was on the way down, and long before Ruiz developed his horribly effective hit and hold style.

I'm not saying 'big deal' that Ike beat Tua, but that it is a controversial fight, VERY close, Tua, the puncher, boxed and exposed weaknesses in Ike.. Tua DID go on to numerous more high profile fights, won most of them... yet because he did fight more (and thus inevitably lose a few in the process), rather than go to prison, he doesn't get any of the regard that his equal (or lesser ?) Ibeabuchi gets.

I'd have loved to have seen Ike v Lenny. I think Lennox would have worn him down and stopped him but we'll never know now. Ike was certainly one of the best up and coming heavies of his time and I'm sure he'd have taken a version of the title but I think he'd have just fallen short of landing the big one.
