You know someone's argument is weak when they use "ring generalship" as their chief argument. I don't think even Reed believes his own argument.

Marquez doesn't have much of a case for winning it. It was fairly close. JMM landed the 1 hard right hand and a couple body blows. I saw Manny land a couple of hard left hands and some body blows. overall Manny landed more. We can go back and forth blah, blah, blah. In the end though Manny won that round. Why? because he landed more than JMM regardless of where they fought at.

It's pretty easy to fight another guy outside when that is where he lands a lot of his best shots. Funny though how that "wins" rounds for JMM.

Pac had the superior numbers in round 1, at least in Compubox stats.

I awarded him the round. I do think it was close b/c Marquez's punches were more significant IMHO.

    Peace.

So I will soon set everyone straight, rewatch the fight, and post my round-by-round results. That way everyone can correct their scorecards in the event that they don't have the same results as me.

    I agree.

Controlling the distance is a key strategy in any fight, but I've never heard of it being used as a judges key point in winning a round. If a fighter controls the distance, but gets punched more than his opponent, one would think that the distance fighter would lose the round. I guess Reed just uses different logic when scoring fights.

It's Really NOT as Difficult as U're Making it Out to Be...

When a Fighter like Marquez, who LIKES SPACE, is Able to CONTROL the DISTANCE N a Particular Round, his RING GENERALSHIP (1 of the KEY Criteria's of Boxing Scoring)has to B Considered...

It's a SHAME when AGENDA DRIVEN "Fans" Like U, Can't Recognize CLOSE Rounds when they Happen...

When did I ever claim to be a secretary? I've always told people I was a software developer. I don't know very many secretaries rolling around in $50,000 whips either. :dunno:

I'm just saying your argument that JMM won the first round based on ring generalship makes very little sense since Pacquiao landed more punches.

Well you did call me a secretary. I thought I just might clarify how silly that sounds considering the circumstances.

"Telling blows" is a very subjective statement.

    Yeah I agree. :dunno:

Guys, let's just drop the bitching at each other and stick to debating boxing. If you wanna smacktalk, go to TAAA, or if you want a dead thread that gets 5 replies, take it to smacktalk.

"looked like he controlled distance, and looked like he landed the more telling blows"

is subjective nonsense, and not a criteria for scoring a round.

No wonder ARum wants $10 million dollars to even consider putting the one trick pony back with JMM:lol:

don't worry pacfans he will beat the shit out of Diaz and you will claim he got his "fire" back and he was off every time he fought JMM

'more telling blows' is something everyone factors in.

'controlled the distance' is not a very significant factor in my scoring, but it is part of ring generalship so it's possible it could matter, just not likely.

Absolutely...clean, flush shots are the primary criteria.

As you have said, the closer the round is in that department, the more other things like ring generalship may matter.

    Peace.

Pacquiao landed the cleaner punches outside of a few choice rounds, I dont even see how thats arguable. His left butchered Marquez' face

Marquez was the one walking around with a brand new pussy on his face, yet he somehow landed "the more telling blows."

The more telling blow was in the 8th round when JMM landed a right on pacquiao's eye and damn near made him quit.

haha let's revert to the old who's face looks worse argument.

I guess jandaeng landed the more telling blows as did barrera because marquez was all busted up in those fights as well. the guy is an older fighter with accrued scar tissue and he busts up pretty much every fight nowadays.
