Naw, that con Pastore only left because on me. I singlehandedly ran that fool off. :nono: I got the last laugh when Margarito knocked Cintron out easily.
Again I have to agree with Carlos here. Several people, two that I have met said they don't go here because of what someone said to them in the forums. One chap received some bad words about a movie he watched in a thread, but I don't know about the other guy.
I must admit, I post here because of the lack of censorship. We have real fans posting real opinions with real facts. Don't get me wrong, I know there are some posters here that talk out their anus and don't back up shit. But for the most part there are some really good threads here with good knowlede in them. As far as writers not posting here. Its a toss up. I have a close friend who writes and I see his side. He wants to keep it real, but if he gets a reputation of slamming fighters, promoters, and sanctioning bodies, he won't get any interviews or be allowed in camps. Its not that he doesn't want to "tell it like it is" but he also has to keep a decent reputaion and the boxing/mma writing world is a small one. He doesn't post on boards because everyone calls him a pussy and a homer. Its just negativity he'd rather not deal with. I have told him about fightbeat, he has checked it out. Says lots of knowledge on this board, but alot of childish bullshit as well. He actually cited guys calling Sly "horseface" and shit. I must admit he has a point. But I think that crap happens on every board.
The answer to your question- the fans are the most important thing to me. Always has been. Otherwise what's the point of "press play, don't pay" not forcing people to register, making the articles look great. If all I care about was the money then I should follow Boxingscene's model and simply put up crap videos, force people to register, make articles look like shit, and fill the forums with degenerates that know shit about boxing. Obviously it works because they are making money. But I'm looking at alternative methods to make our model work. I don't measure the success of FightBeat through its finances. Cupey
So what? Fights occur all of the time on message boards. Did every single poster in the history of CBZ agree with, or even get along with, Ron Lipton? Vanes Martirosyan in on BoxingScene all of the time, responding to shit talk with more shit talk (and quite often, provoking it :: ). Joe Pastore left here in a huff, but guess what? A month later, Marshall Kaufmann STILL gracioiusly accepted an invitaiton to appear on FightBeat radio. So too, did Juan Diaz. And Vivian Harris. And Joe Goossen. And Freddie Roach. And Gary Shaw. And Calvin Brock. and countless others who have been on the receiving end of running jokes on the message boards far more often then they are praised.
And we treated each and every one of them with respect. They would all be fair game, however, if they started talking shit on the board.
Good point jarhead. Also with fightbeat being a relatively small tight community it's quite easy to spot the problems and the all the horseplay. Still I like the freedom, just wish there were tighter controls. C
by the way Jake, I think BS should create a press release advising people of their #1 status. It's a major accomplishment to topple FightNews and should be touted to the industry. Just my opinion. C
Pastore half killed a heckler on the way back to the dressing romm after that. Did Joe do time for that? Is he doing time now for that assault?
I thought I read he was doing some time. When was that? 2005? I have no idea if he's still locked up or if he ever actually served a day. The guy was a maniac though.
I disagree. Drawing attention to success only means more people to point out when you're no longer #1. Boxingtalk (which was statistically never #1 in any given area, anyway) is probably the greatest example I can think of, as far as websites go. Any way, all that said, I didn't want to lose sight of the fact that FightBeat is consistently hanging with the best, continuing to improve, and that is what we should be celebrating/discussing, My apologies for steering the thread off course.
I agree with you. Bro, do you remember that e-mail Tigerboxing.com sent? TIGER BOXING IS ON THE PROWL and all of these great figures. The next day there numbers were in the toilet and have never recoverd :: Play the odds, don't send anything out hahahahahha C
one thing about tiger boxing. i always see this dude at AC cards and he doesnt talk to anyone but just sits there and types away. his dedication ought to be acknowledged despite the fact that i've never even heard of tigerboxing until i saw the label on the table during fights.
i guess i can start a website w/ a domain that has an animal tag in front of boxing. how's turtleboxing or turkeyboxing.com?
You own this sight and you're slandered on the regular. :: I think this thread is meant to boost interest since you're trying to dump part of it.
