No, but this was about HEART, you know the mental stuff that separates LEGENDS!!! It doesn't change, you live and die by it!
When has Zab shown that he has no heart? Last I checked he got up vs Tszyu and was mad as hell when Nady stopped the fight. He rose from the SPinks KD and was trying to win that fight (got revenge in the Re). He showed plety of heart in shellackings from Mayweather and Cotto. Zab has heart....he's just an annoying hoodrat with platinum in his mouth.
He lost the fights that were hard. The same way, Wlad has always come up from the floor and has tried until the end.
It was to show that mental aspect only decides fights when physical attributes are remotely even, heart gets overrated a lot. If you pick Ali over Wlad because he is more proven (as cdogg did) that is plausible, but most other reasons given here are not
Zab has looked for a way to quit without visibly quitting in basically every tough fight he has had... yelling at Nady had far more to do with being humiliated than it did with actually wanting to exchange further punches with Tszyu:nono: to say he has heart is absurd, he's a major front-runner
he also showed hardly ANY heart against Mayweather or Cotto... he folded up and ran away when it became clear that he could not win
Listen man...I hate Zab as much as the next guy...but to say he had no heart is ridiculous. Freitas, Cintron...those are guys that quit. No-heart Zab is a legend, sparked off by Judah hatred and then took on legs...
no way, he is like Camacho... when the going gets tough, quit without "QUITTING" except Camacho was way better and had more heart, which is saying something
Right, and in the case of Wlad and Ali, where physically you can say they're pretty even (Wlad bigger, Ali faster/better) - obviously Ali's intangibles mean a lot.
Could be, they might even decide this bout eventually. However the mental abilities, no matter how big the difference is in them, don't usually make a fight onesided, which you seemed to suggest with the laughing emoticons (or perhaps I misunderstood)
Nah, I was mostly poking fun at Hut. What seperates Ali from a guy like Wlad - who is nothing if not big, strong, skilled and naturally talented - are the intangibles.
Zab is a strange one. I don't think he has heart or clearly lacks heart, but something that can't be denied is he is VERY mentally weak. Damn good fighter when he puts it all together, fast, skilled, talented, powerful, but against the best fighters he's faced he pretty much ALWAYS wilts mentally, sometime around mid fight. Sure he doesn't ACTUALLY quit like Freitas, but he wilts/quits mentally. That's basically the story of Zab's career.
Ok, I can accept this. He gets somewhat discouraged in tough fights. He's still trying to win though, he just starts to doubt his own ability to win. A guy that's truly lacking heart doesn't even try to win, he just wants out of the fight (or just to survive) once the going gets tough. I don't see that in Zab.
Heart is the ability to turn around adversarial situations in the ring or its nothing worth talking about in the discussion of fights and outcomes. Zab has no heart.
Exactly. Tacit quitting is the worst kind, IMO. Quitting on your stool is a gesture of honesty and personal responsibility at least.
I didn't make this up. I remember arguing with someone over Herbie Hide vs Ali and that person said they bring equivalent talents to the table. Let's wait for hut to weigh in since it wasn't yourself.
