Is it a comedy? is it a drama? is a feel good sports story? is it just an excuse for T&A for horny teenagers? It was in fact all of the above and there lies its biggest problem. It is funny, but not enough. It is dramatic, but not enough. It is about a sport (wrestling) with a Rocky-like vibe 'a million to one shot' yada yada, but still it treats its female stars as pieces of meat in those supersexy outfits. But before you pulled it out to jerk at them the plot makes you sympathize with them as, gasp, struggling human beings...not the thing you want to get a woodie. Peter Falk is okay as the manager, but a little over-the-top at times. The two lead actress are very good too and they trained hard to do all the wrestling scenes, but at the end of the day what brought us here was their beauty not their craft. This was supposed to be just a kinky quickie film in the vein of 'Porky's', but surprisingly veteran Hollywood director Richard Aldrich (The Dirty Dozen, Whatever Happened to Baby Jane? The Longest Yard) decided to helm it and it attracted actors like Peter Falk & Burt Young. The result is a formulaic film that defies its formula and probably the only 'serious' film you'll ever see about female wrestling as it was a product of its time and we know they don't make them like they used to anymore. 7/10
Who said this is only a 'modern movie forum'? we have been doing reviews of old movies all these years. Where have you been hiding all this time that didn't noticed that?
