Hatton doesn't hold nearly as much as people say. Lederman came up with the funny Hook-and-hold -line during the Castillo fight where in fact Castillo clinched much more when Hatton walked forwards. (There was even a funny exchange between Harold and Lampley there: HL: "Hatton is holding, see right there." JL: "Castillo put his left arm over Hatton's neck").

Hatton comes forwards, he pushes his opponent back and creates room for himself to punch. It often leads to him being tangled up with his opponent but he doesn't do it to stop his opponent from fighting. He still throws very many shots and apart from the Collazo fight, usually doesn't lose even rounds

Lampley had to tell Lederman to SHUT UP during Byrd-Wlad II when Lederman said "Jim...I Gotta Talk About Holding"...and Lamps said "Its nonsense." as Wlad drove Byrd down and out.

Errrr....Cotto hits harder than fucking Collazo - the very same Collazo who buzzed Hatton throughout their fight and almost stopped him at 147.

Cotto walks through Hatton and dismantles him.

(I'm not even a Cotto fan)

I didn't say anything racial. I don't want people talking to me(or holla'ing at me) using third grade level English no matter what race they are. :nono:

Really, you gotta stop using that.

It should be BIG TIME evident by now, after fights with Quintana, Judah and Mosley, that Cotto's punch resistance has improved dramatically by moving to 147 since he doesn't have to drain himself...and is also, by all accounts, keeping himself much more fit between fights.

Also - Cotto fought like an idiot vs. Corley, no doubt about it.

Lastly - Hatton doesn't punch at 147 like he does at 140.

Let's see how Hatton does/looks vs. PBF first at 147, having now had more time to acclimate to the weight.

    Peace.

Do you have Mustard on ignore or how did you completely miss my point? This what you say is very much what I was trying to say: that basing your picks on single fights, let alone single moments of fights is not very smart. Just like you shouldn't pick all Hatton's fights based on his performance against Collazo, you shouldn't view Cotto only in the light of Corley fight.

based on Cotto's ability to handle Mosley's best shots and keep coming and have the presence of mind to box when he needed to, not to mention the excessive amount of holding he was forced to cope with, i'd have to favor him to walk PBF down and put a beating on him. I don't think PBF brings anything to discourage the fearless Cotto who as many have already pointed out, has under-rated foot and hand-speed, certainly enough to corner and punish PBF. This of course is why the fight will never happen.

No. I was just picking on you specifically.

    I get it.

Problem is, Mustard's point holds some weight (no pun intended) because Hatton came up to 147....and so the fact that Collazo was able to hurt Hatton up there can suggest that, when Hatton is at 147, he could be hurt by a puncher who hits harder (and 'better') than Collazo does...at 147.

Could Hatton's resistance improve on his second trip to 147 given he's had more time to acclimate in this camp?

Could be....we'll see. PBF may not be the guy to answer that question.

Also, Hatton's ordeal vs. Collazo was partially due to stamina in the late rounds as well. We'll see if vs. PBF this is different.

    Peace.

    True.
That's a minor worry about Hatton at 147: a non-puncher froze him on a few occasions during the fight with single shots.
The trade-off here, of course, is that, Mayweather couldnt drop Judah at 147 - so unless he tags Hatton, 3-4 times in real quick succession, he isnt dropping him.
