I think he's an ugly fighter to watch, but I like Taylor. I guess it's because he seems like a likeable guy and because he gave Hopkins an immediate rematch, then fought Winky, and was willing to give Winky a rematch right away. He could be good for the sport so I want him to do well.

Still, his choice of opposition in his last two fights have been dissapointing. If he fights another small guy after this then I might start disliking him.

Yeah, after Fighting the great Hopkins', Taylor has done something no other GREAT Middleweight has done and that is defend against Former Welterweights/Jnr Middleweights

I can only think of one other guy who did such a horrendous thing:

    Marvin Hagler

    Duran - Former LIGHTWEIGHT
Leonard - WELTERWEIGHT with one fight in 6 years
Hearns - Welterweight moving up from 154 lbs
    Mugabi - Jnr Middleweight

What's with these Middleweights defending against smaller fighters. What a disgrace!

JT is wrong by tsking this fight on the heels of his fight with Ouma, but the guy did fight Hopkins and Wright and I think he should be 1-1-1 in those fights but he has fought good fighters. You guys act like he is Roy taking 10 years to pad his record. Frankly, he should have scheduled a fight with Sturm, Abraham, Pavlik or Miranda, but you all are acting like he has never stepped up when in reality outside of Corrales he fought the biggest names in his division.

yeah Hearns, who went on the bitchslap Virgil Hill and have success at higher weights, was merely a welterweight moving up from 154.

Would anyone say Keith Holmes, William Joppy, Trinidad, and DLH compare with Duran, Hearns, Leonard, and Briscoe?

I might agree with this post when I see who Taylor fights after Spinks. I am hoping for the winner of Pavlik/Miranda.

Taylor hasn't won impressively lately, but how many people won impressively against Hop? Wright? It disappointed me that he didn't KO Ouma, but lets not forget that Ouma is world class fighter/former world champ.

I am rooting for Pavlik although he will likely get chin checked. Not because Miranda can punch, but because Pavlik has no chin.

He was being sarcastic, you moron.

Only an idiot would, and even then, he's already forgetting a number of fighters that were better than Joppy and Holmes.

i just hope Spinks doesn't have an emotional break-down ala Oliver McCall. sometimes he seems like he's on the verge of one and it's only a matter of time. and his post-fight behavior doesn't provide promise for his emotional stability.

Actually....truer words have seldom been spoken. If Spinks wins..Floyd is sure to challenge him and Spinks is sure to accept.

Taylor is getting more criticism because of his pattern of fighting smaller guys before he won the title, and recently as well.

Hagler fought a slew of quality middleweights before he won the title, and after he won the title as well. He fought the big names who were smaller guys, but a whole lot of tough middleweights as well.

And Mugabi spent his time at both 154 and 160. He was the top middleweight contender when Hagler beat him.
