Same here. Bear in mind that I am a lawyer; arguing about specific words and sentences appeals greatly to my professional nature.

Robin Reid wasn't a bad fighter, obviously not an all-time great or anything but he wasn't a bum like people are making out. On his day he could pose good fighters problems, and he was a victim to some of the most crooked refereeing I've ever seen against Ottke. He could also lose against absolute shite at the same time, he was just one of those guys.

And as a journalist, it's my job to poke holes in said words and sentences.

Calzaghe was winning the Reid fight easily until the hand injury

Yeah, it's a huge accomplishment to beat Kabary Salem, in a competitive fight, after getting dropped hard by him.

Bute, who I despise, showed how to deal with this caliber of fighter, as he wasted Salem in his very next fight

Arguing about Calzaghe with JOM is even more pointless than arguing with Hut or C-Doggy. Honestly mate

Groupie? Are you serious? Were you on SO back in the day?

Historically, I hate Calzaghe. But towards the end of his career I realised the guy can actually fight really, really well, once I put down the haterade.

    You should do the same.

The Hopkins fight wasn't close btw, Hopkins swept the first 4, Joe swept the rest, and Nard even tried to bitch out and get a DQ.

That fight was when I stopped being a Nard fan.

And no, Reid wasn't a big fight

When I was a Calzaghe hater, that was the fight I used to mention, just like you. But when you look back it's pretty obvious he fought to the level of opposition, like many other fights in his career. WHen he got up for bigger fights, it was a much better Calzaghe that showed up.

Never said that Reid was a bad fighter. You guys are putting words on my hands. But he was far from a world beater, and he should have gotten the dec versus Joe. And please spare me this bullshit excuse about his hands

I didn't say it was a huge accomplishment. It wasn't that competitive, he won going away. He was not hurt by that knockdown either.

Newsflash: Sometimes boxers have bad performances.

Why is it bullshit? Calzaghe's hand problems are well documented.

For what it's worth, I also thought Reid won the fight.

Reid has a far more worthy claim to beating Joe than Hopkins does imo

Agreed, despite looking a bit like Peter Andre, he wasn't a scrub.

I agree with you, haven't scored it, but looked like a fight that could have gone either way. I don't think Hopkins came close to beating Joe. He won 4 rounds at best and a knockdown.

The kd is highly revelant cause it shows how a good counter puncher would have put him on his ass by countering his sloppy flurry

I used to be a pretty big Calzaghe fan starting with his fight with sheika. But contrarly to you, cowardice in a fighter is something I despise. The guy had one of the most shameful management made career, and he looked better than he was because of it.

And yes the Reid fight was pretty big, the hell you're talking about.

And where did he rise his level according to the opposition ???

Against the mummy of Jones and Hopkins ???

You don't understand, I'm able to decouple the two.

I despise cowardice in a fighter as much as anyone. I love fighters who fight anyone.

Floyd is a coward, but his cowardice and fighting ability are two different things. Just because he's a coward doesn't make me think he's a scrub. He's clearly an amazing fighter, but also happens to be a coward, which is why I stopped being a fan of his post Castillo.

And no the Reid fight wasn't big, what the hell are you talking about? It was a British matchup in some random arena up north, in a fight not many people cared about.

The Lacy fight was much, much bigger, and attracted far more attention.

By the way, the effectiveness of Jazzercise when coupled with an elite chin, stamina and workrate simply can't be denied.

Parallels can be drawn with Vitali's Mammoth Cyborg Swarm.

It might not look pretty, but it sure does work.

interesting fight... Ward would be his best opponent by fucking miles... I think Joe probably wins it by virtue of being the busier guy, but lots of close, difficult to score rounds... Close, maybe controversial decision for the faggot aerobics instructor who should have worn legwarmers and a unitard into the ring... fucking pussy faggot, Calzaghe

Sure, it works fine, legit HOF fighter, good champ. But not better than Andre Ward, based on the objective evidence so far. Just sayin'.

Bob Foster would have killed Joe, would have knocked his wristbands off of him... Calzaghe would come Tae-bo-ing to the ring while "Let's get Physical" played over the PA... then he would have eaten that jab for 7 rounds before being decapitated by a left hook
