Joshua and Haye will make more money fighting each other than they would fighting any other heavyweight.
I bet Joshua would beat the shit out of Povetkin for about two rounds. Povetkin would refuse to fucking go away, Joshuas shots would get a bit wider, a bit slower, and he'd start to tire. I don't give a fuck how fit you are, you can't keep 238lbs on the move for 12 rounds. I want to see how good he is when he's shipping clean rights like we know he can.
Haye, like Fury, is not remotely interested in a domestic fight he has a chance of losing.........he could beat Joshua out of sight and make him look amateurish by moving and jiving like he did against Klitschko, but he's not going to indulge the fans because he regards himself as some sort of a marquee fighter who should walk straight into title shots all the time.
I think its Wlad who has praised Joshua. :: He knows the fight won't happen, so he can say what he wants. Klitscko is damn near 39.
Haye could look like utter garbage in his comeback fight. He hasn't fought in what, two and a bit years?
In terms of running around and not getting hit, there is probably nobody better in the business. Nobody has ever run for 12 rounds like he did vs WK and come out of it with their reputation as intact as he did. He was fine till he opened his mouth about his fucking toe. It was only then that people realised he had run all fucking night. Same with Chisora, he just ran around and waited for Chisora to walk into one.
It was in response to the praise: When I last spoke to Klitschko he was effusive in his praise for Joshua – both for his prowess between the ropes and his maturity outside the ring. Klitschko told me he had no doubt Joshua would follow him as the dominant force in the heavyweight division for years. “It’s very interesting,” Joshua says. “A lot of UK heavyweights never give you a compliment. But Wlad, who has an Olympic medal and is the second-longest-running world champ after Joe Louis, can give me these unbelievable props. Someone like Tyson Fury says he would knock out Wlad but it’s not based on logic. He just says: ‘Wlad’s shit.’ I want to say ‘shut up’ to those kind of guys. They’ve done nothing compared to Klitschko.” The Ukrainian is 39 and it is surely unlikely he will still be fighting in another 18 months when Joshua may be ready to challenge him. “No man!” Joshua exclaims. “It’s very likely. You know boxing. A great world champion and the new prospect would be a huge fight. My gut says it will definitely happen. What makes a champion great is how he dethrones the guy before him. Look at Mike Tyson against Trevor Berbick and how he crushed him. You have to rip the title away from him. In order to become a great you have to beat the current champion in totally dominant fashion. That’s why I would like to fight Klitschko.”
Fury got laid out ea sports style by Steve Cunningham. Probably best he didn't fight Haye earlier in his career.
No idea if it'd be more or less than he'd get vs Wlad but people in the uk would def still buy tickets/ppvs for Joshua-Haye. Itd have to be soon, and preferably after Haye came back with a KO win but Haye still has a pretty big media profile here....a nice highlight reel of him knocking people on their ass remains good advertising fodder, too - they say the last thing a puncher loses is his power but actually it's probably his marketability.
This, pretty much. Grudge match, local rivalry, big HUHVY weight fight. rap music between rounds, people going deaf, LOADSA MONEY!
Tomorrow morning in work.........."Bruv, he KNOCKED that bwoy out, ahm telling you, bruv........" etc. Until the old Panjabi guys get involved and start telling the BLUDZ "Vat are you bloody talking shit get up on 3rd floor helping take down vall with kango henna"
I am seriously starting to believe that upcoming Joshua is better than upcoming Mike Tyson ever was. Not enough proof of that yet of course but he looks like a fuckin machine so far
:: The harder we dig, the bigger the nuggets. Joshua may well have taken out Sammy Schaff faster than Mike ::
:: word What I meant was, I truly believe Joshua is the goods bu before some clever guy jumps up and notes that he still is untested, I do admit this is based only on my personal, subjective take
For me, the dudes that always made it were the guys who showed a similar sort of learning curve over the course of their careers. Vitali said it took him till the Adamek fight to really settle down. He was physically finished by that point but made it look easy. All in the head you see. A guy like Vitali might never have blasted out the guys that Joshua did with the same speed and devestation. Lewis likewise. I just think Joshua is a physical freak who, physically, is at his peak. He's never been hurt, never been down, never been given any reason to hold his hands and think twice. He's built well and young and fresh and a guy like that, who think's he's immortal, is always going to look good going for it. Of course, ask any fighter that ever lived................those days never last. The question is how much does he learn, and how soon, before he finds himself in with guys who know a thing or two about not getting smashed in the face. Joshua might well blow out Povetkin in a round.........but I would love to see how he does when he finds himself pausing to catch a breath and the likes of Povetkin is still there. Also..........I'd love to see him fight somebody who comes in bobbing and ducking like an apple in a barrel of water.......nothing worse than letting off bombs and they all miss..... I looked at the Johnson KO again and as impressive as it was, Fury never tried to KO Johnson and Vitali was clearly finished......he was 15 years older than Joshua is now when he fought Johnson. So it's hard to say. I like what I have seen so far. He's better than Wilder.
Good post mate. Yeah the stamina and chin questions still need to be answered but he has looked excellent thus far.
Watching his fights again and he has pretty quick hands for a big dude, nice timing too, picks his shots well
