I would be wary that he doesn't wind up like Nigel Benn yet. Kicking fuck out of all and sundry then BAM some lunatic living in a garden shed in fucking Brixton via New York via Jamaica gives him a hiding.
Yeah I'd be cautious about just assuming he just treats Whyte like the rest of them. Whyte has ambition, can dig ad has the confidence from beating Joshua in the amateurs. It'll be interesting at least.
Then bully for him. I'd like to know if he is actually any good before we anoint him the gratest of are timez. He's fourteen fights in and he hasn't fought anyone who can actually fight yet - I'd fancy myself to knock fuck out of most of the scrubs he's been skittling. That lad on Saturday was fucking hopeless. This next kid, the big ammy 'grudge match', is also wank. MTF
I don't mind it at all, it's good to see people giving a shit about boxing and at least people have an interest in the heavyweight division again.
Whilst in total agreement with the basic premise, the one caveat I would throw in is that he has fulfilled the often unspoken rule of prospects...........beat bums, by all means, but make them look like bums. Joshua makes them look like bums. So he's over the first hurdle. Right now, what Joshua is really living off is his fulfilment of the above rule, his TOTALLy spurious Olympic Gold Medal, and the feeling, nay, the nagging suspicion that he MAY just have blown out in 2 short rounds a fairly cagey and capable Kevin Johnson. I qualify the above suspicion in that Vitali, never a banger in the true sense, was traveling for free on the London Underground by the time he faced Johnson, that Fury never tried to KO Johnson and that Johnson himself was a half-step slower than he used to be. But..........I remain anticipatory.
I wouldn't disagree with any of that. I'm not blind. What Joshua has done he has done very well. But my fucking god is he fighting some absolutely shocking opponents. The Johnson fight is the slight outlier but there are plenty of question marks there as you say. His gold medal 'win' was as obvious a home-town gift as you will ever see - he lost not once but TWICE, clear as fucking day, in any games not held in a British city. He has not been hit yet. He hasn't been in with anyone who can dodge or even half block a punch. His stamina is completely unknown. His chin is untested. His defence is untested. His CV is shocking for a bloke 14 fights in. He has a lot to prove. MTF
I'm the same, I hate Sky in general, but as Irish said it's not who you're beating at this stage, it's how you're beating them. He takes out the rubbish very well. With the exception of absurd talents like Lomacheno EVERYBODY is a hype job until proven otherwise.
Joshua is going to treat Whyte seriously and many believe Whyte is Joshua's toughest test to date. I can see Whyte being very defensive and not being too willing to open up much. That'll lead to a chess match. I just think Joshua's better and he'll exploit openings in Whyte's defence and it won't be long until Joshua lands something of note that'll likely hurt Whyte bad. I'm confident Joshua wins in three rounds tops.
Sky are the worst for bum licking up coming prospects and at this time their tongues are right up Joshua's arse, but I think for good reason.
Mitch Green was just a tough guy and not much else. Let's not make him out to be worlds apart or something.
Don't you think that people should be able to form solid, demonstrable conclusions by the time a fighter has won an Olympic gold medal and is a professional, Commonwealth Champion? MTF
Whyte isn't even that. He's a complete scrub. After this fight no-one will ever hear from or of him again. MTF
Possibly, but only if Haye sees enough money in it. David will go where the money is. It is what gets him out of bed on a morning. That and his hair gel. MTF
I wouldn't have thought Haye uses hair gel. Maybe some sort of mousse instead. Hair gel is gay, though.
Joshua-Haye has the potential to smash British records. PPV sales, tickets sales, etc. I think Froch-Groves II topped over £22 million.
