    Stevie Cruz lifted the title from McGuigan then Esparragoza destroyed Cruz to lift the title.

    But what if Esparragoza and McGuigan at his best had met?

    I'd pick Esparragoza, even against McGuigan at his best. I see Esparragoza keeping his distance and slowly beating McGuigan down, winning rounds along the way.

    I'm not sure.

    The McGuigan who beat Pedroza and Taylor was quite a fighter - Esparragoza never faced that kind of educated pressure, and firepower.

    Having said that, the Esparragoza who beat Cruz was extremely sharp, and that version could beat McGuigan - but I think it's basically a 50-50.
