Yeah... I'm not really arguing that. I'm just saying it's a rule that any fighter who is KO/TKO'd has to visit the hospital as a precautionary measure. This is a NSAC rule. It's not like he chose to go to the hospital to quickly escape the press. ::

 

No. He made like $30 million plus for this, more than most people (especially boxers) make in a lifetime. He has a great future in the sport, and if his sparring sessions are like his fights, he probably should be okay health-wise (not taking a whole lot of punishment).

I did though sort of want to see the corner stop the fight during a round so DLH would at least have the dignity of being on his feet when the fight ended, rather than surrendering on his stool.

 

This is the one area where I may have a little sympathy for DLH.

It'd be a lot easier not to have to deal with the media after taking the kind of beating he just recieved, but as the head of promotional company he can't. He's gonna have to be out there in the public and talk to the press...and get asked (repeatedly) the kinds of questions most boxers would rather just avoid.

Who knows what was wrong with Dela Hoya? Even if his pride was hurt, why can't he take a little time to be alone and gather his thoughts? I mean last night was possibly the end of his fighting career, his passion. I mean if someone told me that I'd never be able to develop software as my career anymore, or never be able to go sailing from Newport Beach anymore (a recent passion of mine), I'd probably want to be alone for a while too.

 

I didn't mean to imply I agreed DLH did it for that reason...he may have. I don't really care, to be honest. But his mentioning the press got me thinking he's not going to be able to avoid the questions once he has to be 'Oscar the promoter' again.

There's a part of me that feels bad for any fighter that stays around long enough to get horribly beaten. As much as I loathed Ray Leonard, it was sad to watch him humiliated by Camacho. Same with Ali. Same with Holyfield again and again.
