Anyone going to the fight Saturday???

Valero beat Mosquera by out-boxing him. That was the amazing part. I agree that he's not exactly picturesque when he's in there, but he knows how to control a fight, seemingly. And he knows how to use his jab, which on top of his punching power, means a lot.

 

What's the difference? Same fighters IMO. :dunno:

 

Looks like Arena is after the WBC belt. Gamboa/Linares in 2008 would be awesome.

 

Valero has definitely regressed. If it is truly due to lack of training; then he's going to have a very difficult time against Pacquiao, who won't let him get extension on his shots, is faster, and actually may even punch straighter than this wide-swinging Valero.

I am also leaning towards Soto over Guzman, as I think if Soto boxes within himself he has the style to beat Joan in a close fight.

That being said, it did worry me that Bobby Pacquiao was able to buzz him - that was unexpected and I don't consider Bobby to be a hard puncher.

It could have been Humberto was over-zealous and got caught, as Jake says....and frankly, Soto's been in there with harder punchers and gone many rounds. Weight may have something to do with it.

But it's something to watch.

"Fortunately" for him Guzman is not a big puncher at 130 - but speed and angles can make up for that.

Can't wait for that fight.
