15-16 years ago, bums like Asseola and Mitchell wouldnt have even made it on ESPN. The division is truly pathetic.

15-16 years ago Michael Grant was #2 contender and Vaughn Bean battled full rounds for championship against Evander Holyfield. Just sayin'

Grant was as good as the 67 Ali compared to Seth Mitchell.

Arreola would be on tv in most era's since he is a latino heavyweight. That makes money.

    Yes. Chris fuckin sucks.

He's a pretty good puncher, but NOTHING remotely close to Lewis. He might score a KD on a prime Grant, but I think Grant would get up, and just wear his bum ass out.

What I'd really like to see is Asseola vs a prime Tua. Asseola is made in Heaven for a young Tua. Chris would be headed back to Riverside in a coffin.

I don't think Grant is a sure thing against Arreola at all.

Neither Does REED....Prime for Prime, Grant's FAVORED, but Arreola Could EASILY Upset that Apple Cart....

I agree. I would pick Grant, but it is not like they were in entirely different league.

Also it must be noted that Arreola is at best #8 contender even now. Guys like Jimmy Thunder, Cliff Etienne and Jorge Luis Gonzalez broke momentarily to tpp-10 of The Ring rankings in later half of 1990s. Lower half of top-10 guys are hardly ever very noteworthy, much less the guys they whack around

Arreola KOed a nothing special fighter. Not exactly big news. What would really be news is if Arreola beat someone who matters.

    Same

I'd favor him but Arreola could certainly stop him

Nah man. The Grant who stood in there while Golota knocked him around for 10 rounds. I don't think Arreola has a chance.

Maybe post Lennox Lewis, when his confidence was taken completely out of him, Arreola might have a decent shot.

I'd like to see Arreola vs Chisora. That would be a fun fight.

Yes, and Golota really is all round better than Arreola, apart from the intangibles, like balls, which in Chris case, really are intangible.

    Just watched the Mitchell fight.

Not sure Grant beats the Arreola that KO'd ToS and looked good coming up.. He was basically a poor man's Tua, but that might be enough for Grant

Him saying "I love niggas" is weird, maybe disavowing black/Mexican racial tension in LA (tho I think that's pretty specific to just a few areas)?

I remember when I heard about Arreola coming up. I thought he was some bad ass. He turned out to be a pretty disappointing slob. Mitchell should not fight without a helmet.

It was Damian Wills I was thinking of btw, not ToS. He actually looked in OK shape back then, had some head movement and good conditioning as well.

maybe "niggas" is some sort of Chicano slang for a particular dish favored by the portly Arreola?

Agreed. They are ragging on heavyweight even though it is far from the worst division.

EDIT: And on that point, give Arreola credit for trying like hell against Vitali, despite Vitali being far too good for him and having way too much for him. Its more than can be said for Alvarez.
