Best FACE OFF ever! Klitschko vs Haye

Haye looked uncomfortable. His eyes cloud over from time to time and his mouth turns down. He looked like a guy trying to punk his executioner one last time.:boohoo:

 

You're trying to see things that aren't there pal. Haye seems certain that he's going to win. But that's cool.

By the way....is it just me or is Haye's personality a CLONE of Naseem Hamed's.

 

Hamed.....nah. I think Hamed actually had a legitimate mean streak and was a bully into the bargain, or at least turned into one. Haye might be going that way. Accusing Steward of cheating would be a start.

 

Aside from the arrogance, Hamed & Haye aren't really much alike. Hamed was funnier, more relaxed and all around more "loose."

I think Haye is an insecure character. His entire history reeks of it. Hamed became insecure but mainly because he had become a part-time boxer who didn't train. He began to substitute reality and reason with religion and associated vulgarities, but that was at the very very end of his career.

Haye doesn't fit in. He won't live in England. He makes his wife go by another name and then he cheats on her, while pretending to be training in Miami. He has no ideas of his own and accuses others of being what he himself actually is. A fake. A fraud. Boring. Surrounded by yes-men. Making excuses and engaging in fibbery and nonsense about retirements and birthdays.

I detect a tenseness in the guy, Sly thinks I am making it up. We will see.

 

I do pick up on his being tense. I don't know that he's afraid of Wlad, that may just be how he is.

Classic Hamed was the guy who put his arm around Kevin Kelley's shoulder while talking about how he's gonna knock him out, big goofy grin on his face the whole time.

 

Early Hamed was tolerable, far more so than Haye, who always had a story and an excuse and some shit going on, like when he bottled the Commonwealth games in 2002. I actually only fell out of love wiith Hamed from the time of the McCullough fight onwards.

Haye isn't afraid of Wlad as such. If Haye threw a birthday party and felt you were having a better time at it than he was, he would ask you to leave. For Haye it's all about appearances and keeping them up. He has to be the center of attention. It always has to be about DAVID.

I hope I'm wrong, but I have a feeling you're in for a huge letdown come fight night.

edit: I will say this, if Wlad stays true to his big words and mean grimaces and actually comes out guns blazing, looking to punish/KO Haye instead of win a boring decision, that will earn some respect from me. Same goes for Haye.

 

Hopefully it's more boxing match than patty cakes.

You have me pegged completely wrong. I am not excited about this fight because I think it will be a wild, winging, slugfest. If I want that, there is a UFC event the same night.

I am hyped about this fight because Haye is a confident, big punching heavyweight that is honestly under Wlad's skin. And the dude can actually fight.

If Wlad comes out and destroys Haye methodically with his jab over a 12 round decision, I wouldn't be the least bit let down. It will prove that Haye isn't good enough.

Regarding respect, If Wlad can come out and executes a game plan that involves using his range, jab and out-boxing Haye, I honestly don't know how or why anyone would want to diminish him for it.

But then again, I am an aging boxing fan that grew up watching Muhammed Ali punish people NOT with power shots but with a pesky, persistent jab that repeatedly, over-and-over again, said "I am better than you bitch."

To me, that is far more punishing and humiliating than a single big punch that gets a knockout.

wlad-haye's face-off was better than pascal-hopkins, which had lots of histrionic table-banging but not much evidence of real bad blood. haye's first line, "well, he's clearly a dickhead...", gave the interview genuine spite.

 

Not as much as his subsequent claims that Manny Steward is a cheat and a glove-loader :nono:

That's great. I love slick fighters and boxers, myself. Problem is, Wlad isn't either and hasn't been for a long time. He holds excessively, his offense is less varied than before, and he generally isn't really entertaining to watch in the same way as say, Floyd Mayweather Jr or a prime Ali.

If you like watching guys throw a jab or a 1-2, then hold, you should check out some John Ruiz fights. You'll find him to be the epitome of the sweet science.

 

I hope Haye gets laid the fuck out.

 

Well, I guess not being biased about Wlad one way or another gives me better perspective.

He's certainly not the most entertaining fighter I've ever watched but comparing him to Ruiz is ridiculous.

I never said Wlad was slick in the least. But the dude can certainly fight behind his jab and use his range.

At the end of the day, his style and manner of fighting has lead to wins and a KO percentage above 80. If he can employ that style against Haye and walk away with yet another KO win, it will be impressive to some degree.

 

It literally means a black ball. White and black balls were used to vote by clubs and such. A black ball means you oppose what ever is being voted on.
