Possibly....my caveat is that MAB RGRESSED after he beat McKinney, he became increasingly belligerent and reckless beating up hapless opponents.

He sort of literally AND metaphorically walked into the Jones right hand.

If God himself had set out to make a man specifically to destroy Duran, he could not have improved on Hearns.......

Castillo vs. Mayweather the first time around?

I think you may be confusing Gary Jacobs with Wilfredo Rivera. Rivera arguably beat Pea in their first fight, Jacobs got picked apart with body shots.

Oddly enough I am not confusing a Jewish Scottish guy with Wilfredo Rivera.

Jacobs had no chance in that fight but went the distance when most expected him to get splattered... Like Diobelys Hurtado would...

The Rivera fights were a year later and I think Pea was big into the coke by then

Surprised no love for Hagler-Hearns here. Outside of the opening minute when he got hurt, Marv beat Hearns up then iced him in 3. Definitely one of the greatest performances.

I considered it, but it doesn't belong IMO. Dunno why, really. Just doesn't seem to fit the bill.

Oops, I’m the one who mixed them up. I was thinking of the Rodriguez fight when Pea hammered his body.

Whitaker really did decline pretty fast after 95’, it was kind of sad to watch.

It was coke and bigger fresher opponents. Dudes 2nd last fight was vs Tito. Tito must have been 165 on fight night.

Whitaker impressed me against Tito, though.

2 years out of the ring and strung out on coke, he still managed to stand up to him, take his best shots (Broken jaw too), and gave Tito a fight, and took a few rounds. I particularly remember him hurting Tito with some body shots in the 7th round.

Tito’s youth and size obviously played a role. But I dug the heart Pea showed that night whilst clearly a declined fighter.

His standout performances for me were against Chavez, Oscar and Tito.

One he won but drew, one he won but lost, and one he lost but won in that he truly demonstrated how good he was.

    People don't remember.....he was 5'6" tall. That's basically a half-foot shorter than Tito.

Whitaker was surprisingly aggressive against Trinidad. He was clearly too old and small for Tito but gave a good account of himself and showed how tough he was.

I think Tito always gives Whitaker issues. People often remember Tito’s weaknesses and how inept he looked in his bad performances (especially Winky), but those were all bigger guys, in both height/reach as well as body frame. Whitaker peaked a couple divisions below Tito and was giving up quite a bit in height and reach.

Tito wasn’t quite as in love with his power back in 94-95 too. I still tend to lean towards Whitaker in a matchup around 94-95 but it wouldn’t be easy.

Carlos Monzon performance an ATG operator like Jose Napoles was incredible. Punch selections were near perfect and just couldn't miss Mantequilla. Granted there was a size difference but still a great performance nonetheless.
