Bute had a rematch clause in his contract with Froch. Wisely decided not to enforce it.

The phrase I chose was mentally shot. Physically he was still able. But he'd mentally checked out.

Good list, can't really argue with it. Say Fury beats Wilder and AJ both convincingly and then retires, is he a lock for top 5? I think he has to be, surely.

Agreed. He fell out with Ingle as he didn't want trainers telling him what to do. Like hit the bag or skip rope, you know, outrageous shit.

Man that bute Froch fight was such.a.magical moment. Ive despised bute ever since he refused to take part in the super 6, and went on a bum tour, while getting rated as one of the top, if not the top, smw. I picked froch to win that one, but never tought it would have been such a magistral whooping

Same. Boxrec had Bute ranked no.1 at 168 at the time of that fight. Froch was a 2-1 underdog pre-fight. I told everyone who would listen that Bute was a coward and a fraud and that Froch would light him up. Enjoyed every second of that fight.

Not for me, based simply on how lowly I rank both AJ and Wilder. It isn't necessarily his fault, but Fury has a pretty terrible resume outside of an ancient Wald, who he spooked rather than chinned, and Wilder, who is basically a skill-less bum with tremendous power.

I rate Fury as the best of the current HW crop but this is a very poor crop and, for all his fighting instincts, Fury isn't really that good, is he?
