:say: Not even in the same ballpark. Geez.. MacDonald has faced one good fighter in his entire career AND lost. I too was impressed by his win over Diaz, but let's be honest, Diaz has lost 5 of his last 8 fights. He just isn't any good. It is absolutely ridiculous to claim MacDonald is a better striker than Penn when MacDonald has done absolutely NOTHING to prove it. NOTHING.
So a fighter slowed down in the 5th round of a championship fight and that indicates a problem with fatigue? GSP slowed down considerably in the 4th and 5th against Shields. Does he have a fatigue issue as well? Damn this kid is thick.
Nothing? He's proved it in his performances in the cage. BJ still hasn't. As much as his striking is rated as highly as it is, the only utility it really has is outboxing wrestlers....except when they outbox him, like Edgar did. Unless you were exceptionally impressed with the three rounds of counterboxing against Florian, for about 15 punches per round on a guy who did nothing but shoot for takedowns. And I guess outstriking GSP for one round.
Seriously, this one really irks me. MacDonald has a 3 fight history outside of the local Canadian circus. He gets knocked out by STRIKES in one of them. Gets a quick sub in another. And slams his way to victory in the 3rd. And now suddenly is a far better striker than BJ Penn who is considered one the most technically sound boxers in MMA. Give me a damn break!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Not really. His eye was messed up and he took the rest of the fight off. A lot different then getting dominated for the last round and a half of a fight because you don't have good cardio. Damn this guy is thick.
How about dominating Sherk with strikes or Diego or Stevenson or Hughes for every minute of stand up in their fights. And give me a break, in the first fight with GSP, Penn gave him a boxing lesson. GSP won with take downs and control. And most, like me, thought it was a draw. Go read some more records at Sherdog.
Someone doesn't watch fights. And again...MacDonald slammed Diaz in the third round of a fight he won every round (the first two being almost entirely striking except when Diaz himself tried to take Rory down), yet he SLAMMED his way to victory...no. He outstruck Diaz soundly in the fight and the slams only cemented the win.
LOL... Took the rest of the fight off? Maybe that's what Penn did too. The bottom line is that Penn has coasted in 5 round fights against non-wrestlers. Period. It can't even be debated and it's ridiculous to try.
Does this really even need a counter-argument? :dunno: And bullshit that fight was a draw. Only BJ nuthuggers thought that fight was a draw. That was the clearest 29-28 you'll ever see. GSP won the striking after the 1st round by the way.
That doesn't make any sense. Penn was getting his ass kicked and lost a wide 50-45 decision. GSP couldn't see out of his eye in a fight he was winning every round, panicked and fought to survive. I'm not even sure what you are debating...you are just making up stuff now.
No....Not even close. And keep in mind, those names I mentioned are better than ANYONE that MacDonald beat... So address that?
You should at least admit that you just look at the fights on fightfinder. :dunno: Only someone who doesn't watch fights would suggest that Rory was knocked out in a striking match. And Nate Diaz was outstruck by Rory in the first two rounds. Pretty obvious stuff.
The point was about a fighter slowing down in the 5th round meaning it's a fatigue problem. Most fighters do slow down. Hell, even Faber and Cruz slowed down by the 5th. The point is simple. Fatigue is only an issue with Penn in matches that involve grappling with great wrestlers. He didn't fatigue badly against Edgar. He just got beat.
Penn fight's at a snail's pace. He has two options. Either succumb to Condit's pressure and lose a decision, or fight and gas.
OK.... Much like BJ Penn I have a problem with fatigue. You win. Now take my bet beeeeeeeeeeeeeeyatch!!!
Nice try but I never said Tito would win. So I get it. You don't really believe Condit will win, you're just hoping.
Then step up... LOL... It's only a two week signature. Come on..... Penn is slow, old, piss poor boxing, etc.
