I have kept quiet about about this series for all the duration of season 4 and after watching last night season finale here are my thoughts of the current status of the show: don't make season 5. Last night episode was the only highlight in an otherwise dull and boring season. Sure, it ended, as expected, in a bloodbath, and some of the regular characters will not be seeing again in future episodes, but the way this episode ended, it could wrap up the whole thing and call it a day. I just don't feel the need to be introduced to new characters and new situations every season knowing very well they will be getting rid of by the season finale. It has become formulaic. No longer unpredictable. That said I did enjoyed the demise of a particular character and was sad to see another one gone. Still one single episode can't compensate for a lame season. I am not looking forward to the next one.
Well Wright was introduced this year and wasnt killed off. And season 5 has already been renewed. I would love to see Capone more involved next season. Hell, they can even do a capone spinoff.
Capone do deserves his own series, but I don't like the direction the series has taken. If the main character moves to Florida then there is no more 'boardwalk empire'.
