AND Floyd wins it in my opinion.

This is getting crazy. Floyd is playing mindgames, and that's his prerogative, but some people are defending his introduction of late stage shenanigans because he cloaks it under actually giving a shit. Floyd doesn't give a shit about this type of testing. Floyd cares only about stirring shit with Pacquaio at this juncture.

"Mandingo" is an overlooked film classic.

Kenny Norton played the title role of "Mead" in that one, and when he beat and bit, and broke the neck that other fighter to death "Topaz" was classic cinema violence.

Norton impregnated a white woman, Susan George, in the movie, which was very provocative back in the day, but as big and bad as Kenny was, who was gonna fuck with him about it?

    Nobody.

Norton followed it up with "Drum" which was a smaller budgeted blaxpoitation flick where he wiped out the great character actor, Yaphet Kotto in a pitched battle and had some steamy scenes with the great actress, Pam Grier.

Those were great days to be a boxing and movie fan.

Reed, you and Irish have your game, and you fuck with him as much as he fucks with you, but we're talking about a prize fight between #1 and #2 in the world here, so don't dick around and make this thread an ugly spectacle.

Guess what, dude, I don't read every thread! Between looking after my family, my new home, and getting ready for the most suicidal holiday of the year, I only get to check a few threads and then get back to life off of the net.

If he's racebaiting, point it out to me. PLEASE. Show me where. If it is happening, then I will stop it dead in its tracks ASAP.

As for Alabama Man, is he even back here?

WTF, dude? I'm one person who decided to buy the board to keep it open for fans. Chew the moderators' asses if you have a problem. I just want to keep the site going during the holiday season and talk some boxing...particularly this fight.

No, I'm pretty sure I do. Floyd hasn't done this for any of his previous fights---even against bigger people. The DLH fight was his biggest fight to that point, but Floyd didn't insist on this type of testing.

This is a great way to fuck with someone, and props to Floyd for flicking this shit out there after the terms were agreed upon. Cloaking mindgames with a legitimate testing procedure is brilliant (and since this hasn't been introduced in any of Floyd's pro fights previous to now, Floyd insisting at this late stage is suspect at least).

No, since my points are backed up by fact, I think I have a fair idea on the topic.

Clearly Team Floyd thinks Pac is juicing and thats the only reason they are asking for this.

Are so delusional to think that this is some elaborate scheme specificaly cooked up for Pac to get some sorely needed competitive advantage that Floyd desperately needs?

The reason they didn't do it with Oscar is because Oscar is obviously a clean fighter...not so obvious with Pac bro.

They have asked for this from day one and it was agreed too, but Arum and team did not realize the extent of the testing.

This. If anything, this should have been stipulated before the fight was signed.

I'd have no problem at all with this if the Commission decided to have this testing done but for one of the competitors to insist on it?

Rubbish. FM has no business dictating these kind of terms after the fight has been signed. That he's even going this far makes me think that he is very nervous about taking this fight. I personally believe he will win and decisively at that but this does make him look worried.

That being said, lodge a complaint with the NSAC and take the fucking tests already. If Pac wins after all that then it just makes the win all the sweeter if he tests clean.

If the NSAC decided to make this kind of testing mandatory across the board I'd say it was one of the best things to happen to boxing in a long time. I have no problem with the testing itself, just the idea of a boxer forcing another into that kind of thing.

    Floyd isn't forcing him.

Why do you have a problem with the idea of a boxer insisting upon this type of testing for an opponent and himself prior to a fight?

So saying the fight will not go ahead unless it's agreed to is not the same as forcing?

Because it isn't up to the boxer, it's up to the commission. Now if Floyd had lobbied to have this become the blanket rule for title fights at least then great. Excellent idea.

The timing of this is somewhat convenient. Saying that the testing that both guys have been going through their whole career is now somehow not suitable doesn't seem strange to you?

Floyd will win this fight. I think he stands more chance of psyching himself out of this fight the more he postures.

My apologies. I've read so many posts saying this fight was on with a date set, I had assumed it was signed already.

If this is the last sticking point then as I said, Manny should lodge a protest with NSAC and then agree to the testing.

    If he's clean of course.

EDIT- Another thing, I highly doubt that Floyd would submit to this if it was suggested by an opponent, clean or not.

But really. I like FB but a major turnoff is how many threads turn into race. Do a search and find the common denominator. It's virtually impossible to use this forum at work, with American HR (id honestly look at the babe, porn forum before I risked stumbling into a racial thread at work).

That's the thing NSAC has tested Pacquaio SEVERAL times before. NEVER positive. The fight would be sanctioned by the NSAC. Pacquaio is ok with that. Mayweather is not.

Mayweather is WALKING. Pacquaio should look IMMEDIATELY for another opponent, which they are according to NY Times article, Winner of Mosley-Berto in the future, Uri Foreman, Pauile Malignaggi or rematch with Marquez at 140.

    Soap Opera OVER.

No, it's not forcing. Pacquiao can always say no and if it was an unreasonable request then Pacquiao might be justified in saying no, but trying to ensure that an opponent isn't cheating...by requiring....a method used worldwide...to prevent cheating...in athletic events...in a BETTER way than what is currently used....well, this is completely justifiable...for Floyd.

It's not up to the boxer to count on anyone to protect him better than he can protect himself. Protect yourself at all times. Pacquiao sychophants are going to transparent extremes to protect their hero. But this issue is a complete, landslide loser for them

    The timing isn't important.

If Manny was clean, his best move would have been to roll up his sleeve, tell Floyd to roll up his sleeve and said "bitch, let's get a doctor in here right now to start testing."

His second best move would have been to agree to the testing on the condition that Floyd make a concession...such as the weight penalty thing being mentioned.

Way down on the list of the best way to deal with Mayweather's request...well into the reactions that I would label as 'really fucking stupid' or 'really fucking guilty'...you will find the approach that Arum has chosen to take.

Why won't Manny agree to the more stringent testing? Why? Why would he give up 25-40 million dollars to avoid going through testing that every freaking olympian puts up with for less than 1% that amount...some for less than .0001% of that amount? Would you?

Why can't more Pacquiao fans just admit that Pacquiao is out-of-line here? Why do you have to blame Floyd for this? Floyd isn't asking for anything he isn't willing to do himself. He's not asking for anything that will give him an advantage in the fight. This isn't ring size, glove size, referee choice...hell, it's not even who comes into the ring first or which National Anthem is played first...it's only a completely legit request to ensure Pacquiao doesn't cheat.

Mayweather should take it up to the GOVERNING body. Pacquaio justs trains and fights.

He is already agreeing to testing BEYOND of what the best commission in the sport requires. Mayweather doesn't want none, man. He hasn't for YEARS now.

Maybe they could agree not to test 5 days before the fight as to not bother Pacquaio's ROUTINE but if not LET'S MOVE ON. Pacquaio is just asking Mayweather to adhere to current NSAC testing and for him to show up on March 13th, but he doesn't want to fight Pacquaio.

Saying 'Do this or the fight is off' is the same thing as forcing. This is going to be a career high payday for both guys and to turn it down means walking away from that. So, do this or lose this: That's basically a texbook definition of forcing in this sense.

Of course the timing is important. FM didn't do this before his fight with Hatton or DLH or any of the others. Floyd sees in Manny a guy that could conceivably defeat him. Why else would he demand such stringent tests? What was wrong with the testing done throughout both guys respective careers? That it's a better test isn't really relevant because the standard testing has been fine his whole career.

Let me clarify one point: I don't believe that FM is afraid of Pac. I do believe that he sees Manny as one of the toughest fights of his career however.

In regards to outcomes, I agree with you. Manny should just take the tests. I also believe that NSAC and the boxing world as a whole should consider adopting the testing that FM is proposing. That decision should be made by the sports officals as a whole, not a random contestant regardless of who he is.

The governing bodies should take it up themselves. This is not Floyd advocating olympic testing for everyone, he is just demanding it for this fight. Why does it matter if Manny will do more than is typically required? What Floyd is asking for is NOT out of line.

Pacquiao is just asking for more lenient testing...the kind that can be beaten with relative ease. It doesn't make him look reasonable, it makes him look petty and guilty.

If we use your terminology...what is wrong (at all) about forcing an opponent to prove he isn't cheating when your request is olympic style testing?

You're the genius...why the hell would it matter if Floyd has not asked for this testing before? How does that justify Pacquiao not agreeing to it?

There would never be change if we followed your reasoning...why chnage if you have been fine with the old way? And this isn't a request for a meaningless change, it is a request for a proven, existing, and superior change.

Would YOU give up a $25 million payday to avoid olympic testing? No one would with any speck of common sense. No one.

We are going around in CIRCLES. The more time passes and there is no agreement to adhere to CURRENT boxing's golden standard NSAC rules, the more entrenched both camps will be. Fight is OFF. Let's move on.

OK for the sake of this post, I'm going to assume that Pac is clean. (I'm undecided on this in reality.)

Why would a guy that is rightfully considered one of if not the best in his chosen sport, agree to unnecessary testing just because his opponent wants it? Why would he allow himself to be dictated to by his opponent? Exactly what has Mayweather done that allows him to set these terms in the first place?

Floyd has just come out of retirement and beaten a guy he pulled up two weightclasses. Pac is coming off defeating a proven champion in one sided fashion. It's the number one fight everyone wants to see but in boxing that doesn't really count for much as it's up to the fighters to agree to terms. So the fight finally looks like it will happen and then FM decides the standard testing isn't adequate?

Could you not understand feeling insulted by that demand? The mere allegation has stained Manny's career already. Look at the boxing sites and see how many people are taking hearsay evidence as definitive proof. I can definitely see why Manny would rather walk then go through with the tests. It would be a terrible decision for his career but I'm sure it isn't the first time pride has lead to a bad decision. As I said in a previous post, I don't think Floyd would agree to anything like this if his opponent suggested it.

Why should Pac have to? He's never tested positive before but the mere suggestion that he might not want to jump through Mayweathers hoops has got everyone declaring him guilty based on NOTHING. How do you justify that?

Maybe FM, Manny and most other top guys are all using the same PEDs. They don't show up in standard testing. Floyd retired to cleanse his system of it while Pac continued using as he was still active. FM then comes back, beats a guy far too light to trouble him and then demands this testing to prove Manny is a cheat.

See how conspiracy theories start? You don't need any proof, just suspicions and a level of plausibility.

NSAC can look into this now and decide from there. Fact is though that under the current system, people have been caught doping. I'm not saying that the current system is foolproof or that no one is flying under the radar. I'm saying that this kind of decision should be undertaken by the governing bodies. If PEDs are really as prevalent as we all think then something should be done.

That Floyd suggested this is great. That he's insisting on it is not. I suppose it could be looked at as FM using this mega fight as a way to force NSAC into acting on it. If that's the case then I applaud him for it. We'll just have to see how this pans out.

I wouldn't walk away from that kind of payday but then again I'm not able to sign to fight another guy and make millions anyway. Sure not the huge number this fight would make but millions are millions at the end of the day. Pacquiao can and has made lots of money without FM. I'm sure he's very aware of this.

This fight will most likely go ahead. Pac will eventually agree to these demands and we can get back to the business of being excited about the fight.

Mayweather could agree that Pacquaio providing a blood sample 72 hours prior to the fight and after it is more than REASONABLE. ACCEPT the fight and go on to beat Pacquaio.

"Eventhough Pacquaio didn't come full circle like I demanded, I still beat him and no one now comes close to me as being the best fighter in world."

Enhancing his LEGACY tremendously in the process. But he rather NOT fight.:nono:

I'm not really too worried about this shit killing the fight.

It's just more shit that adds to the drama and gamesmanship from both guys but ultimately the fight will take place. They can yap about "I'll fight Mosley instead" but I don't believe it. They want to fight each other as they'll make more money that way, it'll be the hugest fight in the sport, and gain bragging rights.

Neither side wants to back down but eventually they'll agree on something. Pacquiao's not going to give up like $40 million because he doesn't want a teaspoon of blood drawn, plus it'll just look bad if the fight gets cancelled due to his refusal to take the blood tests. While some will look at it and say "the tests were too close to the fight, it's not in the rules with the commission, etc...", too many people will just see it as shady. Sports fans, especially in the states, are already suspicious of PED users because of people like Barry Bonds, Roger Clemens, Marion Jones, Rafael Palmeiro, etc...

This is definitely cooked up to mess with Pac, but no I don't think Floyd needs it because I am positive that Floyd will stop him by the 10th round. Manny will get nailed with Floyd's overhand right all night.

It feels wrong to count him out given what he has done in the past but I can't see Manny winning this. Floyd may be almost completely unlikable but he is also one of the most gifted fighters I've ever seen. Added his size, great defence and awesome speed, I have trouble believing Manny can win.

Floyd isn't that gifted. I mean that's an exaggeration, he is obviously EXTREMELY talented, what I mean is fighters like Roy Jones and Pacquiao rely almost completely on talent.

Floyd is more about skill and craft.

Pacquiao is faster, more powerful, and more talented than Floyd.

Floyd of course makes up for that in size and skill.
