All of the boxcutter posts by me were in reference directly to the hijacking a plane scenario.

Only because it won't have the ridiculous embargo and sanctions, Saddam did a lot socially and economically for the country before the disastrous gulf war and war with Iran.

 

Speaking of sanctions , the UN offered to lift them if he would just let the UN inspectors back into the country.
Obviously that never happend.

 

That little choice didn't end up working out too well for Saddam...

And, what do you mean but it never happened, UN inspectors were back in Iraq in 2002 and the sanctions were never lifted

 

To my knowledge , when the UN asked to inspect additional areas to search for WMD's , Saddam refused. Then they kept applying pressure to search these areas. Saddam got so angered that he kicked out the UN inspectors from the entire country.
After the UN attempted to negotiate with Saddam to let inspectors back into Iraq. One of the things on the table for the negotiation was the Sanctions. Saddam still did not agree.
Even the days leading up to the intial strike on Iraq , it was broacast all over the News with Bush stating "All Saddam has to do is let the inspectors back into Iraq".
The UN was even still making attempts. Saddam simply ignored both the UN and Bush. Shortly after , we attacked.
